I got Canthar locked up and I succeeded in killing him in jail before I spoke to Pedro. I think speaking to Pedro must have triggered something and the merchants now refused to talk to me and call me an ex-convict, and this is AFTER Canthar's already dead! The thing is, I've sold the gold chalice in "The Man With the Eyepatch" quest to Hakor before I started on it and need to buy it back from him in order to complete the quest. But he doesn't want to deal with me. Help! Does anyone know if any other gold chalice would help me solve this quest?

I'd say try it and see. There are (I believe) several to be had. I'd guess yes but it is only a guess.

Thanks, lordhoff. But I wonder if I'm missing out on any good weapons and stuffs by not being able to transact with the merchants. Damn you, Canthar! You're a cheat!

The walkthroughs suggest paying the 500G because of the good weapons but it seems that one finds/takes all the weapons one needs. Maybe in the short term. I'm only in my second play through but I didn't buy any weapons other then bows in the prior or yet in this one. I haven't learned pick pocketing so I'm always short of cash.
