It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

I bought this from Gog a couple of hours ago, downloaded it, installed it, tried to run it.
The intro screen is black, for along time, then I get a stuttering intro sequence, and then the game collapses to the task bar, and an Error screen crops up saing in big black letters "ACCESS VIOLATION"..... with a string of hexadecimal numbers in an upper window.
And thats it.
Any suggestions please?
Oh, almost forgot...

The first post has instructions that sound like a problem solver. Someone else has to discover this quirky little game with me o-O.
From the WorldofGothic.de forums: http://forum.worldofplayers.de/forum/showpost.php?p=7568561&#post7568561
Hier mal zusammenfassend ein paar mögliche Lösungsvorschläge:
here some possible solutions:
* Schliesse vor Spielstart sämtliche geöffneten Anwendungen. Auch Deine Antiviren-Software und Deine Firewall.
before starting Gothic close all running applications - also anti virus software and firewall

also upgrade functions running in the background can be responsible (e.g. windows update ore anti virus updates)
open taskmanager/processes (hope thats what its called in english windows distributions) and end one by one all non-system processes but NOT "explorer.exe"
install the FPS patch. It cancels the 25FPS limitation and could stabilize the Game.
FPS patch:http://forum.worldofplayers.de/forum/showthread.php?p=7073342&#post7073342
If you are running any texture patches, try out to remove them.
make sure the Video resolution matches that of your Desktop (also the colour depth)

maybe try to deactivate AntiAliasing and AnisotropicFiltering in your graphic drivers.
* Reduziere die Sichtweite im Spielmenü unter Einstellungen\Grafik.
reduce visual range ingame in settings/graphic

Thats what I found, you can also try to post in the english section of the WOG forums:

Thank you both for your help and the time you took :)
I have read both posts and the links, and I have tried all the suggestions, so far nothing has worked, so I will continue to look for a solution ...until I get bored and give up...lol
But thank you both anyway :)
I've seen a few posts on various other forums that suggest it may be an issue with the music. Edit the [Gothic Path]/system/gothic.ini file and set the variable musicEnabled to 0. See if that works.
Have you sent this error message and or problem information to tech support here? They might be able to fix your problem and they usually respond within a couple of days.

Thanks benedictm...
Tried that about an hour ago...sadly no change.
I think I`ll follow "whodares2" advice, and mail the techy guys with the problem and see ifthey can help. :)
Thanks again for those who took the time to help, if I get a solution, I`ll post it in this folder for future buyers.
