Please help I recently installed this game and can not get it to work. I'm using Windows XP with latest drivers, A Geforce 9800 GT card with latest Nvidia drivers. I've shut down Windows firewall and have suspended my virus software (Avast!). I've shut down every program in the background and I've tried starting from the direct run file as administrator. The program is listed under explorer as running but the game is not playing. I've searched this forum high and low to no avail. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Normally such problems are encountered by Win Vista and 7 machines.

For me (Win7) it helped to install the Report version of G2 (http://www.worldofgothic.com/dl/?go=dlfile&fileid=122 or http://www.worldofgothic.de/dl/download_278.htm).

But backup your Gothic.exe first, due that patches were designed for the DVD-versions of the game
