I've been having some issues with Giants and sound -- When the game starts the menu is fine, but there's alot of statis in the main game. The issue goes away after a few minutes and the game is playable thereafter.

I've tried lowering hardware acceleration on the sound to none with no change

Any advice appreciated, DXDiag below

Live X-Gamer 5.1 (and yes, i know the card is over 10 years old, but the mic input is a LOT louder than my my motherboards onboard one)

Closest match was the Gamer 5.1, but the drivers installed fine (Dated from 2003). No difference though. Any other ideas?
ok. Tried updating your dx drivers? http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=35

If that doesn't work. You should try re-installing the game since it could have some corrupt files. The game is a bit older then your card so it should run fine on it.
