I just installed Giants: Citizen Kabuto and the official game patch along with some other patches, but now the game asks me for a CD. I assume you guys patched the executable so it wouldn't and the patch reverted it, is there something I can do?
This question / problem has been solved by Skrecziimage
Please post the link to the patch you tried to update the game with.

It's the GiantsHook one from here.
I have discovered that you can change offset EE8F4 in Giants.exe version 1.4 to EB from 75 and the game will run.
I have created a small patch to help people who can't do that themselves. As far as I know the patch is legal (I bought the game - twice) but use it at your own risk. I scanned it with AVG free and used it but some antivirus programs might report the tool as a virus, so I take no responsibility for it.
You can find the patch here.
It should work with other versions (there's a filesize check so it'll tell you if it doesn't.

had the same problem. thanks for fixing :)
No problem, didn't take that long :) For some reason I can't mark my solution as one, though, it's odd.
EDIT: Oh, apparently you can't mark your own post as the solution. Why not, GOG devs? :/

Stavros, did you have to apply the official game patch before installing GiantsHook?

@Stavros
Our version of game is already patched to version 1.4 and GiantsHook v1.00 works with it.
Please reinstall your game and try that modification again.

Oh, I didn't realize it was already at 1.4... That would work then. It works with my patch currently, so I don't need to, thanks though.
Is this also true for all games, are they patched to the latest versions? Because I downloaded patches for the other games I bought.

Our games are always patched to the latest available version before we release it, but if you want to be sure you can always check it in readme file inside games catalogue. I know I always double check sth before I'm sure - "just in case...", "You can never be to sure..." etc. ;)

I noticed that when using the 1.4 + EAX patch to make the game take advantage of my sound card, I got CD prompts.
I solved that by replacing the .EXE file the patch supplied with the one the GOG.com installer had originally put there, and EAX was still present.
If you don't need or care for EAX, though, you can just skip to installing whatever mods you like.
You know i read the readme and i saw Retail 1.1 Version in it. I'm pretty sure even in the description of the game on the site there is the same thing
Dude it says 1.4 when you enter the game and go to the options menu, it says the same thing on gog Giants page, why in the hell are you patching it IT'S 1.4 ALREADY!!

I'll just add that this usually just applies in the case of official patches. Community/fan-made patches for some games can greatly improve their functionality/content.
