Hi there,
I have this game on CD, and that version is multilingual (there's at least French, German and English on the disc). Is the GoG version of Giants also multilingual, or just english?
If it is just the english version, is it possible to change the language to french using the retail discs?
Anyway, it's really great to see all these Good Old Games turning up on your site, keep up the good work !

Hello,
The version available at our site is the english one. We do not provide support for non-english versions at this time. If you own a multilingual/localized copy of giants, you can do the following:
After installing the GOG.com copy of the game, go into your Giants folder, select Giants.exe and gg_dx7r.dll, then right-click and select Properties. Check the "Read-only" attribute and click OK. Now you can install the localized version into the directory where your GOG.com copy of Giants is located. Choose "No" when the installer asks you if you want to install the 1.4 patch (though it shouldn't be able to do it anyway).
You should now be able to play Giants in the language of your choice.
Enjoy. :)
Thanks, I'll try this out !
Let us know if it worked and don't forget you can mark a reply as being the solution to your problem (if it is, of course!). :)
I will, of course... I was just waiting for the payment system to be in place ;)
Hi,
I tried the setup you mentioned:
1) install GOG.com's version of the game
2) check the 'read only' marks on Giants.exe and gg_dx7r.dll
3) install the CD version (it's from the standard 2CD European box), and select french as language
Before installing the french version, I saved the md5 of both files to ensure that they would not be changed. However, every time I want to start the game, it is now asking me for my CD (see image). When I click several times on "cancel", or if I click just once on "continue", the game loads without any problems.
The 2 files (Giants.exe and the dll) have not been changed as the MD5 sum is identical before and after the installation from CD.

Do you have any idea on how I could prevent the error message from showing? Did the CD version install some kind of secuROM thing in the registry preventing (or at least trying to prevent) the exe to run without a disc?

Hi there,
I tried launching Giants again today, and it didn't ask me for any CD. I don't know if it's the fact that I shut down and restarted my PC since then, but it works, so I have marked it as a solution!
When i open my localized game and it's loaded the program are stopped and return to Win (10)
