Giants has installed fine, but when I launch the game it pauses for about a minute, then I just get a black screen with music. If I press escape, I can hear the sound of the cursor navigating the menu and such, but there is never any video.
I have Windows XP SP2 32-bit, a Core 2 Duo E6600, 2GB of RAM and a Radeon HD X2900XT.

I had the same exact problem in Vista, on my Macbook dual core. But if you hit enter twice, the game loads up and everything is fine. Really strange, but glad I can play.
I was wondering if ANYONE was having this issue recently, and if they did anything about it.
If someone wants to help me, they could tell me what key-presses it takes to load the last saved game, since i can access the menu but can't see anything...screenshots of the menu screens would be perfect if someone could do it.

No one has any ideas about this? GOG tech support hasn't responded over the last 10 days on this matter, and I still can't get the game to work.
Not that it'll help any, but I'm having the same issue. Pressing enter twice does make it work, but then you're probably missing things like options, multiplayer, difficulty options, etc. Annoying.
iam having the same problem and tech support wont respond i cant play my saved game and have to start all over again
Try http://www.fileplanet.com/156177/150000/fileinfo/Giants-Citizen-Kabuto---Graphical-Revision-Mod-v1.0 Its a revised graphics mod for giants and it helps the game run on newer machines. It may or may not sort the menu out but its the only idea I have at the moment.

I don't understand what you mean by route.
it's the MENU SCREEN it does not display. if someone can please post a image of the MENU Screen I'm sure most of us could load our games then.

It is the Main Menu screen most web sites do not have an answer I even tried to pop in my giants cd of the game and I had the same issue. Hopefully GoG has a answer to the problem or at least a screen shot of what the main menus looks like then we can get back to gaming.
it's makes me sad to think that this problem has existed for so long and no one knows why.
BTW I have the same issue.

Game runs fine on my WinXP desktop. On my laptop, with Vista, it doesn't show the main menu screen.
Can this game be played windowed?
EDIT: Replying to myself. The game can be played windowed, the solition is on another thread but basically it's by adding "-windows" to the startup command.
But even windowed, the initial screen (main menu) does not show anything.

Hello all
I just installed the game and yes I have the same problem. Someone mentioned on here showing pictures or screenshots of the main menu but if you look in the manual that comes with the game when you install it then it breaks down the options on the menu for you. It's not a big help, but it might do you some good.
Unfortunately I managed to actually get through to play the first level and remembered why I got rid of it back in 2000. Well I've only myself to blame.
Thanks x
