Just bought the game and now I realise there is no code to activate on Steam... :(

Maybe there is a way to activate it that I haven't found?

Nope. GOG doesn't sell Steam codes, it sells the games themselves. You can still add it as a non-Steam game, of course, but you won't get the full functionality of the client. On the upside though you get extra goodies and a DRM-free version.

the Borg collective has to be stopped.

And when you buy on Steam, you ask Steam for giving you the same game on GOG (without drm for sure)?
Please do, let the pc games prisonner of Steam being freed!
