Will this game support it out of the box ? As much as I am a PC gamer and love KB+mouse, as age is increasing, I prefer kicking back and using a controller to play games. Specially platformers, twin stick shooter and third person games. I have a 360 controller btw

Yes. It supports the Xbox 360 controller and other controllers that use xinput. It should work with Direct Input controllers as well, but I don't have one of those to test this out. I have the 6 stage preview thing from kickstarting the game.

I play it with an cheap USB Gamepad from Speedlink, that resasambles the Look and Feel from the an PS2 Controller. It work's perfectly. Maybe i should try it with my USB Competition Pro II Joystick too.
Just to live up the good old times where Giana Sisters came on an 5,25" Floppy. :D
