The load screen finishes and am presented with the "start new game" screen, but then a couple seconds later the game is windowed and window of the game is black. Music continues playing, mouse cursor is present, but can't close or minimise the window. Only ending the game in task manager closes it.

Oh, version 6.5.

Try turning off your antivirus, I've read that it has been giving problems for some people.

Yeah, that had no effect.

Got it to work. Have to use explorer to check it's properties and check the box "run as administrator".
