In this thread we will post some information on frequently asked questions. This is also a great thread to ask a general question about the game.
Who made Genesis Noir?
Feral Cat Den is a small studio composed of Evan Anthony and Jeremy Abel from New York City. Freelancers who made large contributions include Marcin Zeglinski, Pedro Piccinini, Evan Stark, Jeffrey Soldan, Mercy Lomelin, Dave Szmit, and Stephen Whittle.
Skillbard is a team of composers and sound designers in London who specialize in animation and motion graphics.
Fellow Traveller is an indie game label based in Australia who help narrative focused games come to life and reach an audience. Plastic Fern, a team of developers in San Diego, helped bring Genesis Noir to Xbox and Switch.
What controller support is implemented in Genesis Noir?
There is full controller support in Genesis Noir, however as a point and click game first and foremost, Genesis Noir was initially designed around mouse controls. The controller scheme primarily replicates the function of a mouse cursor, rather than being a fully custom control scheme optimised for controller play. Keyboard support is also provided for character movement using WASD or the arrow keys.
We recommend using mouse controls as the best way to experience Genesis Noir but the controller scheme is a great way to play the game in big picture mode on a TV.
We’ve put a sticky thread related to controller support here if you want to ask any other questions about this.
Are there achievements in Genesis Noir?
Yes, there are 14 achievements.
Will you localise the game into any more languages?
We are not currently planning to add any more languages but never say never! Once the dust has settled from launch we’ll be able take a look at this and consider if we’re able to support more languages.
Are there autosaves in Genesis Noir, or can I save the game at any point?
Genesis Noir autosaves at the end of each level. There are no saves during the levels, you must finish each level in order for you progress to be saved.
I love the soundtrack! Can you recommend other Jazz musicians who you like or helped inspire the game?
We drew upon lots of different music for inspiration but our listening journey for the game began with Sun Ra, who was the first reference we were given by Evan and Jeremy at Feral Cat Den.
Here’s a few Genesis-Noir-informing jazz-galaxies to explore:
Sun Ra - Disco 3000
Thelonius Monk - Genius of Modern Music 1+2
Miles Davis - Ascenseur pour l'échafaud (soundtrack)
Alice Coltraine - Ptah The El Daoud
Don Cherry - Teo-Teo-Can
John Coltrane - Impressions
