I've been using GOG Galaxy 2.0 for a long time, but for the last month or more it won't update. i follow the link to download the latest version but it tells me that i already have the latest version installed. So if i have the latest version installed, why does it fail to install the update whenever i launch GOG Galaxy on PC Boot?
Same problem ^
Me three. Trying to install it from scratch, download doesn't even start. I get that some networks are slower right now but nothing is so slow that it can't download 200 MB.
Same here, will not update.

Tried download and re-install, It will download from the web installer, but doesn't let me select an install location.

And said there was a problem and i have to choose a different location, then shuts down.
Isn't that because there hasn't been an update in a long time? It looks like they've just dropped GoG Galaxy 2.0 because of all the bugs.

Like you still get issues where it will randomly stop pulling data from steam (I order by last played), so half my games are scrambled.
Now it updated!

My version is 2.0.13. That's not the latest? What version do you guys have?
I had the same problem but after I unlinked my other accounts (epic, playstation, xbox live, steam, origin, uplay ect) then It started updating. It seems having all those other accounts clogged the traffic. I have over 2000 games in there.

I've discovered a solution to this, which is a bit janky, but easy enough that anyone should be able to duplicate the results;

Firstly, a summary of my issue (if your symptoms differ, this may not work for you); Galaxy would always pop up with a message prior to launching saying it had run into problems updating but that the latest updates are available on the GOG website. Using the setup launcher from the website would initiate a download bar where the latest version would be grabbed and installation would continue until a certain point where a rundll error would pop up and the entire installation would rollback. Attempts to delete the GOG folder to get a fresh installation would also fail as the folder was in use by rundll. so far, so annoying.

Anyway, on to my solution:

I installed some freeware called Lockhunter which lets me right click on said folder and a new contextual item appears on the menu saying "What's locking this file?", click on that and it opens lockhunter which informs me that rundll is locking the file. surprise, surprise. From there you simply click the "Unlock it!" button and Bob's your uncle.

Use the GOG installer again and bask in the glow of the fully updated client.

As an added bonus, there's a handful of old games that weren't updating prior to the update which just loitered around in the Downloads menu. After this quick and dirty fix they updated right away.

(edit) This process will have to be repeated after every update, unfortunately. Like I said, a bit janky.

Yeah I've been having that issue for the past year....
It's unbelievable they still haven't added a "Check for updates" button.

And that's not even the worst thing. If you actually get the New Update prompt, even if your refuse it automatically installs the next time you run the program. So, if a bad update is ever released, it's automatically downloaded and obligatory runs with no option to stop it from proceeding with this installation
