Is there really no way to force GOG Galaxy to check for updates to the client? I had to click no on the random update popup because I was doing other stuff at the time. Now I can't get the client to update. Do I really need to manually download the client every time this sort of thing happens?

Also, is there some page on this site that tells you what the actual latest version number for the client is?

I was having trouble with the same thing and was searching for help when I found this topic.

You can tell what version you have installed by going to where Galaxy is installed, in my case the default program files x86 path, and right clicking on the galaxy client exe/properties then click on "details" in the menu tabs at the top of the properties window.

Just before, the update notification window appeared for me, but I was busy doing other stuff at the time so I declined, and for the last hour trying to work out how to get it to check for updates again.. After I did the above properties procedure, I realised it went ahead and updated anyway LOL which is why the update window hasn't come up again!

The thing is, before the update window came up, I was in the client for a good 5 minutes or so.. so why doesn't it immediately check on startup like every single one of the other clients do, and just auto update if you're online?

Not having a "Check for Updates" option is kinda of mindblowing at this point.

Seems like the universally standard "About" is missing from the equally missing "Help" option in the application menu. That would normally provide the "Check for Update" link.
Still not fixed it seems. Client wanted to update while I was in-game so I told it no, and now I can't update it anymore and there's no button to check again. Urgh, that was probably the last time I bought a modern game through GOG, the client is so bad I can't justify using it for anything other than its original topic of old games that you can't find anywhere else. For something like Divinity Original Sin 2, I really should've used Steam.

For me it was a bit different. It offered me the update last night and i choose "Not now" because i didn't want to update at that moment.

Today, when i launched the Galaxy Client, it auto updated without asking me anything. Yes, without my consent!

I ran into this today, and simply restarting Galaxy Client updated it automatically as You said, so I guess the Exit button is the Update button as well (or at least the first half of it).

My guess is that it downloads the update (when it's available and wheter the user wants or not) in the background and only asks if you want to install it immediatly after it's finished.

If denied, it auto installs whenever you run the client again.

Not a good approach, specially if they end up releasing a update with a major bug / issue.

Hi, just putting in my vote for a "Check for Updates" button.
I would love the self updating actually working for me. It beginns and a couple % in it fails. But no real error message why it fails.
Win 10 64bit, galaxy is on C:\program files.
How is this still not a thing?
It really needs a "Check for updates" button. The update pops up at a bad time, I dismiss it, now I can't find it any more. Sometimes restarting the application triggers an update, but not always.
Late to the party, but seriously, at this point, this is just sad. I am currently at x.x.x.37 on my client while the LATEST UPDATE the client tells when I click "changelog" is x.x.x.45 - and the client won't fucking update, no matter what I do. Can you GOG people do your job please and include some basic minimum features like your client actually updating when there is an update ? Otherwise stop requiring it for things like multiplayer, because something this outdated isn't even trustworthy enough to run.
