So, I've been updated to the new 2.0 Client. Unexpectedly, I don't hate it. It's....mostly fine, but I do have some issues with the interface + features that I'd like to voice. I will try to be fair, and hopefully not sound rude.
1. Please make it easier to view and manage our DLCs. Right now, We can't even SEE that we have DLCs unless we click into another menu that's not all that obvious that first glance (since it's all the way to the top) and then SCROLL ALL THE WAY DOWN. Give some of that HUGE space you gave to Activity + Friends to DLC management, please. Even if it's just viewing what DLCs you have. DLC + extra management are far more important to a client than seeing what someone else is doing at any given time. (Yes, I am aware that the old 1.2 client isn't that great for DLC management either, but to my experience it was easier to notice the option than the current implementation, since the option was closer to normal eye level and not.....above the game's name banner.)
2. Having drop-down lists of games on the left is hugely beneficial to managing your current games. Some people actually parse information with text and tables better than with pictures of gaming boxes, believe it or not. It's why Steam still has both the sidebar and the box shots. It would be nice if you could reconsider the current direction of 2.0, since that makes the left sidebar all but useless except for a click every now and then. It's an unnecessary waste of screen space. (EDIT : I have just now found the list version of gridview. That helps, though it'd still be nice to have the sidebar contain useful information.)
3. Since genre tagging for GOG is kind of all over the place, to organize the library to any satisfactory level now requires the use of tags. This is okay, I use tags for Steam, too. However, it's an absolute PAIN going through it one by one. It's too late for me and my library now, but it would be nice if you could consider the ability to select multiple games at once. (If there is one and I haven't found it, some pointers to how to do it would be nice. I've tried shift-dragging, ctrl-dragging, and just dragging. Nope.)
4. Sometimes the pop-up menu on right click disappears by itself and you have to re-click it. This is pretty annoying when you're categorizing, managing, editing info or rating your game.
5. Please make it so that the client REMEMBERS our preferences for customizing grid view. I shouldn't have to tell it every time what size I want it to be, or what I want it to show.
Since the client is supposedly still in Beta, I hope that you're also taking in feedback and are constantly trying to improve the client still. Good luck with your endeavours! I wish the best for GOG, it's my favourite place to buy games and I hope that the client would only get better.
