Is there any hope that it will receive significant development in the future? The foundations are there, but there is still so much that can be improved, some features from the original client are still missing, the integrations are still very shaky.

Personally, I love Galaxy 2.0. For me it is the best way to download games as I have a slow connection, and the galaxy provides an option to pause, resume and limit the speed. IN MY OPINION, it looks the best compared to the EGS or Steam. Steam, however, has so many good features that would be nice to have on galaxy. Honestly, it is sad to see that the development of Galaxy has stopped. Even EGS that is notorious for its slow improvement of their launcher has overtaken GOG. I really hope the Galaxy evolves in the future, but it is really discouraging to see it stagnant.

What do you think? Has GOG abandoned Galaxy due to massive negativity from the customer base surrounding it? Will the continue the development? Have they completed the project and it is all we are going to get?

I guess, I would just like to hear what other Galaxy users think.

Cheers
Abandoned Galaxy? No, it's probably that Gog is just understaffed as usual.
IMO they messed up a bit when they mixed in other services/clients when they weren't ready.
It brought some popularity (and complaints) but it also multiplicate the issues.
See the support that it's totally overwhelmed now..

If they were going to do this, it would be more sensible to do what those customers have been asking for and ROLL BACK TO THE PREVIOUS GALAXY CLIENT which actually worked. Galaxy 1.2 doesn't have as pretty a skin over the top, but has core functionality that actually works reliably (Galaxy 2.0 is still sometimes literally losing track of GOG's own games within the launcher for no apparent reason). It has a number of features still missing from Galaxy 2.0 (properly integrated tag system, to name one obvious example), and while there's no fancy looking dark mode, the colour palette isn't actively impairing usability for people with any kinds of vision problems, while 2.0 still has no options to switch to anything but the extreme low-contrast mode which is impossible to use for some customers and has been known to be an accessibility problem since they forced it live before it was ready. There's also the fact that there are basic UI design issues which Galaxy 2.0 is yet to address, which are not only not present in 1.2 but not present in literally any competing alternative in the history of game launcher apps.

It's also worth mentioning that support already HAD a 4 week turnaround time on responding to tickets BEFORE they pushed the Galaxy 2.0 beta onto users without making it ready, so even if there was no other good reason to take issue with it, that was a mistake. That on top of all the (massive and sometimes service-breaking) problems is likely to be part of WHY they're so overwhelmed.
Development of Galaxy surely has been slow. But I don't think they will abandon it. Wish it was updated more frequently though. I encounter bugs from time to time and some promised features haven't even been implemented (like cross-platform chat).
My biggest complaint about GOG Galaxy is not the lack of new features or developments, but rather basic and QOL stuff.

I thought these would be addressed faster after it became an open beta, but i guess i was wrong.

Add to that the lack of communication and any sort of plans... all we have is this slow and quiet sensation.

They promoted GOG Galaxy to became a hub for all your games, but by now a lot of people don't even know or care it exists.
