Going through my Steam library, replacing covers, is a pita. The ability to optionally share covers through Galaxy would be great. Also, peoples hard work wouldn't just get wasted on a HD failure, or god forbid, Galaxy update.

Your manual overrides should never be replaced by our defaults. Once set they have top prio.
