What's the point of using Galaxy for having your entire library in one place if the Steam integration is a community made one? It hasn't work for me for days now and there is no sign of it getting fixed.

Just showing as Offline/retry. Have tried reinstalling etc but nothing works. There is no point if using Galaxy with other game libraries if it doesn't support the largest PC gaming company.

I have disconnected all other service and will only use it for looking at Gog games as there is no point to the client otherwise.

Disconnecting and reconnecting and then syncing library is usually required to keep the Steam plugin working. Would be nice though if EA or Valve would make official plugin, currently the Steam plugin crashes so much due to polling limitations and lack of official API usage.

playnite currently does this effortlessly.
it's possible if done right.
I'd like to see an official Steam integration as well, but I suspect that Valve must agree to such a thing which isn't easy. In the past I had some trouble with Steam integration plugin as well. Now it's working without any major issue, but there's no warranty that it'll stay this way.

Well, if it is not an official integration from GOG.com or Steam, I won't use it.
There is an official way to connect with steam using their api. Gog uses this in other place but not with GOG-Galaxy.
Instead there is a community plugin maintained by a single person, thats doing some "special" way to integrate.
At least thats what is was last time I checked.,
Hope this changes.

There a new version out as of 2 days ago that so far seems to work v0.56

Exact the files

Make sure to disconnect the plugin first

Then close the program

before copying the files to the steam plugin folder at

C:\Users\%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\GOG.com\Galaxy\plugins\installed\

then you can restart program and run the plugin. if you have steam guard it will ask you for the code

Even after running Sync integrations it stayed connected and also after exiting it and running it again

Let me know what you find :) I been using it now for 3 to 4 days not run into issues

The link to the zip file v0.56 can be found in the post title ----- steam_plugin_showing_as_offline
Wait, there is still no official integration after all these years? This should be priority, same as Ubi and EA!

Current solution is simply too big liability and normal browser should be opened to link the accounts.
Imagine someone hacks user creating such community integration on github for example.
Boom and you have some serious problem.

My head can't really grasp why this isn't already a thing since the start. All integrations should be official.

There's still not a "Check for Updates" button... 2 years after 2.0 release! And you're surprised there's no official Steam integration?!

IMO, one of GOG biggest mistakes was to re-launch Galaxy as an all-in-one solution, before even becoming a good launcher for GOG itself.

Yeah, I had to mess up with the client and restart it several times in row before updating to current version (which isn't really that much different from version 2 years old feature-wise). I searched for Check for Update button in vain for like 15 minutes before!

True. But the integration feature is its main selling point, I can't see using it without this one feature done right, they can pretty much do everything else later as you can still download the games normally from GOG site.

It's doesn't help that the program eats ~800MB-1GB of RAM either.

Well, guess I'll wait another two years again. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yes, it's one of the main selling points. And like everything on the client, it works... sort of.

It's nowhere as complete and customizable as PlayNite and it's not simple as well, as it's still lacks basic features.

Though, i've yet to have a memory consumption like the one you mentioned (probably because i've given up using integrations)

As for the wait time, it reminded me of that Leonidas "A little more" meme
Sadly, an official Steam integration is not possible if Valve is not interested in cooperating with GOG.
