So, DungeonSiege is installed, and it runs from the folder or desktop shortcut, but crashes when run from the Galaxy 2.0 launcher.

I do have compatibility settings on, XP SP2 and administrator flags set.

As soon as I click the mouse or the movie ends, it crashes, forcing a log-out to clear the display

Try to disable Galaxy Overlay. In GOG Galaxy 2 navigate to the game's overview window -> click on the 'more' button (sliders icon - top right) -> Manage installation -> Configure -> deselect Overlay (Features section).
If that doesn't help try asking in Dungeon Siege forum https://www.gog.com/forum/dungeon_siege_series or contact GOG support for assistance.
That did the trick! Thanks, Ilona, really helped. I never use the overlay so didn't even consider that(or know it was enabled).
