i've noticed that when i install a game directly from galaxy and order it to provide a desktop shortcut, it creates one that opens galaxy and then launches the game. I'd like to know of there's some sort of option to prevent this from happening or do i need to keep using the old method of downloading the offline installer for my games. thanks in advance.

If the game is installed under Galaxy the desktop shortcut will be the Galaxy one. You can change options and say Galaxy not create desktop shortcuts at all, but anyway, into the Game folder the created shortcut is one to launch the game without Galaxy. You can send it to the desktop and get rid of the Galaxy one.
