It complained that I already had GoG Galaxy running, but it was because I head GoG Galaxy 1 running. However, it wouldn't stop complaining even after I shutdown Galaxy 1. I had to actually exit the installer and try again for it to work, which does imply that there are issues with how it detects that GoG Galaxy is running (like maybe it doesn't actually redo the check like it's supposed to when you hit OK), but I wouldn't have expected it to complain if you'd never installed any version of GoG Galaxy before. Are you sure that the problem isn't that you have GoG Galaxy 1 running in the background? If you definitely don't have any version of GoG Galaxy running in the background, then the installer has a bug.

i used to have GOG galaxy 1 but i uninstalled it to see if it would work and the same error was still coming up
Yeah I'm having this problem too in the exact same manner as described in this thread. Does anyone have a fix?
