Most of the games I play do not require constant keyboard input, so for the longest time I thought it was something about the specific games I played. Then I thought it was a memory issue with my computer, an ASUS ROG Strix G17 laptop. But then, through trial and error, I found that closing the Galaxy task ended the problem.
This was a problem not just with GOG games, but all games (though only really noticable in WASD games). And the WASD games I own through GOG exhibited lag when I played them through the GOG Galaxy - but not at all when I played directly from the executable (with Galaxy deactivated).
The input lag does not manifest immediately. Sometimes it takes 10-20 minutes, other times after just a minute or two. It wasn't always like this. I noticed this because I have periods when I play WASD games a lot (like Warband and Bannerlord), and then long periods where I play other games, eg. strategy games.
I got this laptop around the summer of '22, and all was well, even with Warband and Bannerlord. I first started noticing the input lag after maybe half a year or maybe later, so I don't know which Galaxy version started it all. It was around summer or fall of last year that I found out that GOG Galaxy was the culprit, and to this day I only experience input lag when I forget to end the Galaxy task. I cannot find any other reference to input lag caused by Galaxy itself (not of recent date, anyway), so I guess it's not a common problem.
