I live in a very rural area, I have horrendous internet. I simply cannot use it to download patches and DLCs. So whenever I get the chance, I have to download the offline manual versions of patches and DLCs.

I recently installed Cyberpunk 2077's patch 1.6 using the offline version and it turns out I needed nearly 144(!!) gigs of free space for it to install. I had one heck of a time finding files I felt comfortable with deleting and moving others to temporary drives, etc, but at least I managed to do it. I was confused though because if I had been able to do it directly through Galaxy, "all" I would have needed was about 64 gigs of free space. Anyway, as I said, I DID manage to do it and Galaxy has recognized that I did it, so I consider it a success. Very inconvenient, but still a success, but I wish I knew why 144 gigs of free space was needed when only 64 is needed with the Galaxy Launcher.

Because the offline system has to assemble all the parts first before running it... A step that takes ruffly twice as much temp space and one Galaxy handles much better

So generally speaking people in outback locations with suspect internet (like me) are better off using Galaxy with just disabling auto-updates on games etc
