I prefer the look of 1.2 over this by a long shot. I liked how my installed games were always shown, flushed to the left. They were never away from me when I wanted to start one up.

I wished they allowed us to keep the library UI from 1.2 (and website). Personally, The website/1.2 library looks really snazzy with its bookshelf-like appearance. I also like how all cover images had their titles directly centered on the artwork, giving them a clean, consistent appearance.

Hopefully, a later update will remedy all of this. So far, it’s all very underwhelming.

I agree, I like the original galaxy with it's light style and the game shelves looked nice. Like you said all games looked consistent where now some games don't because some have publisher/developer logos on them and some don't, etc

Even with command the client keeps asking me to update to 2.0

I also tried to delete the GalaxyUpdater from C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\redists\ as suggested on another thread, so I hope that works better in the long run.

Nice. Does deleting GalaxyUpdater.exe prevent the popup asking to update? I hope it doesn't just realise the updater exe is missing and download it again.

I actually agree after using it! Caveats about dark mode, beta status, etc. aside, it has been almost a pleasant surprise. While it's obvious there are still a lot of issues, it's been very usable in my experience...

i still prefer a launcher where i don't have spend 1 to 3 hours manually making it useable. customization can be a good thing but it can also take forever when you are already happy with the version you had before. i've never used tags or any of that stuff before. so for me the new 2.0 interface is completly unuseable.

It loaded onto page 2 for me, with 3 messages, including yours. Clicking "1" next to "pages" at the bottom showed the rest of the messages. Most forums load you onto the first page, not the last, so that's kind of weird, but it is an understandable explanation.

Back on the topic, I like a lot about the 2.0 update, BUT there is a key element missing which was present in 1.2 and which I'd like to see returned:

I tried clicking page one also. It just reloaded page 2. Also tried opening a new page using the page one link. It also opened page 2.

Very disappointed after the forced update to 2.0, wasn't expecting this from a company with such reputation. Has GoG been sold to some chinese conglomerate or turned its business model to data mining like everyone else?

Please, keep 1.x version for those of us who don't want friends tabs, "recently played by others" ads, purple logos, integration with other platforms and such things. Keep it nice and simple as it was before.

Bring back version 1.0. Really, It had better launching times than the 1.2.

And for the freedom of choice sake, mantain versions 1.0, 1.2, 2.0 and GOG Downloader. And change the colors to some more greenish or I will never use GOG again.

Yep - just got hit by the update - I've been clicking update for so long I didn't bother with checking and didn't realise it was the 2 version.

I hate to diminish work done - but I hate it. The whole presentation of items that are in the library to the layout and display.

I get the push to more multiplayer and social platforms - but if it becomes a choice between version and offline installers - then I guess I'm going full offline installers.

Edit : Honestly some big steps back - changing things that worked well for the sake of changing them and making them more obtuse I just don't get. What the heck was the point.

Pretty much what happened to me.

I absolutely didn't expect that hitting the button would turn the whole thing upside down.

Because usually I do trust GOG being careful and considerate about updates and new features. Just now I'm getting doubts about it.

In the end I guess I can live with this 2.0 client even though those new features are exactly those kind of features that I don't want to use. But the way how this just came over me did not feel good. This kind of procedure is just what made me abandon Steam many years ago.

I can see how this whole platform integration and community integration thing is important from a business point of view. I do understand that platform scattering is a problem in that kind of sense.

Anyway I'd really like to be left alone with this stuff. Seeing the commotion going on on the forums (which I have never really used before this day) I think I can safely say that a good deal of customers on here are this kind of leave-me-alone-with-that-Steam-bullshit type of customers.

Please don't forget about us.

Wouldn't it be possible to have kind of a separate light version of the client for those people who just want to have a piece of software that you can use to list and to start your games and nothing else?

As a customer I don't want to bother about how to find a workaround for the doings of a service provider.
