As someone who launches games from their desktop rather than in-app, is there any way that I can tell galaxy not to open a new window when I start a game via desktop shortcuts? I don't have a problem with the game being launched through galaxy but I'd like it if galaxy didn't also open up a new window showing me the game's overview page. The only advice I've found for this online is to just delete the galaxy shortcut and use the non-galaxy launcher included in the games installation folder but I was hoping there may be an option to disable this so I didn't have to replace all my shortcuts

I stumbled upon the same thing. You can use the shortcut within the gamefolder. Usually there is another shortcut in the gamefolder that points to the .exe of the game to launch (just copy it to desktop or wherever). Otherwise you can make yourself a shortcut to the games .exe file.
