Okay. So I've been having issues with my games, but Galaxy 2.0 WAS working.
Was.
Today I decided to do a complete reinstall: uninstalled all the games, everything Galaxy 2.0.
Hunted down all the cruft and got rid of that too.
Decided that at least part of my problems with my games (not saving, no achievements, etc) was because I was using the Galaxy Beta and installed 1,2.x (whatever version of Galaxy 1 is current). But that didn't work at all. Got rid of it and redownloaded 2.0 (beta). Because hey at least it was working before. Sort of.

No dice.
Both for 1.x and for 2.0 I got the following message:
(please note that Prog files x86 is the default location....)

Unable to execute file:
C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\GalaxyClient.exe
Create process failed: code 740
The required operation requires elevation.

Oooookay.
SO I went in, made sure that all the firewall permissions were good.
Made sure that all the boxes were checked under properties/security and added permissions as needed.
Ran it from the shortcut as admin.
No dice.
Ran it from the start menu as admin.
Nothing.
Ran it from the .exe file....
Nope.

I can't even download my games from the website by themselves (using the backup feature)

I have today alone spent the last 6 hours (or more) fighting with this thing and I am at the end of my rope.

Is this thing broken?
Could someone give me a heads up when this is fixed because I'm going to go off and kill things in ESO for a while to restore my calm.

Hi there. I have the exact same problem. Cleansing the system with everything GOG and reinstalling did not help. Always the same message. And then nothing. No replies overhere, so were you able to solve this? Doesn't matter if I install 2.0 or 1.2 version. Message stays the same.

Im have the same problem... Where is GoG?.... this is very sad
Hello!

I had the same issue after updating GOG Galaxy client.
Please, check if compatibility with elder versions of windows is enabled. For me, compatibility with Win 98 was enabled.
When I disable it, GOG starts to work.
I have the same problem....grrrr

problem solved. I install galaxy in other disc ( F:\)

Had the same problem here three days ago. Since then, no method worked. The message "CreateProcess failed code 740" appears only at the first execution, after installation. After that every time I try to run the program it just doesn't show any message at all, nothing. It's like I don't even clicked on it.

Well, I tried everything from reinstalling to changing compatibility mode, passing through running as administrator and so on, and changing installation disk is not an option to me.

There must be a way to solve this, 'cause it's not possible to have a program just rejecting a disk forever. Called GOG support, but still no answer. Let's wait and see, sadly...

Just ran into this process after the client failed to update. I uninstalled the client and reinstalled it but now it says "Unable to execute file:
C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\GalaxyClient.exe
Create process failed: code 740
The required operation requires elevation."
Anytime I launch the client directly after/from the installation. After that if I try to launch it from the shortcut or the exe (with admin and Firewall privileges) it acts as if I never clicked anything at all.
same problem. I got the 740 error.

I try to unsintall and install and modify compatibility and admin privilege.
But nothing works :/
resintalling on a different drive/partition worked
Same here. It seams GOG does not give a shit about their failed product...

I had the same problem.

I installed galaxy inside of the old GOG galaxy folder. So now it is:
C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\GOG Galaxy

It works.

See if it works for you.

ive been having the same issue:

When installed, error code 740.
Once installed, no reaction from attempt to launch exe at all.
Individual games executables still worked.

But above solution worked for me. \GOG Galaxy\GOG Galaxy

So first of thank you, but as a general shout into the void, what the heck. I've had nothing but problems with Galaxy 2.0, from the compatibility issue to this fix. But then now I cannot even launch or organize my games on GOG.com when Galaxy wasn't working, it just redirects me to download Galaxy. Why get rid of one function that was already working?

If anyone reading this hasn't already over-invested, only use GOG for exclusives if you can. Go to Steam, or dare I even say Origin if you can until Galaxy 2.0 actually works.
