Hi,

Recently bought some games on GoG Galaxy desktop client, told them to install, came back later to find them all at 0% because a 20MB update for Empire Earth 2 in my library got stuck at 3%. I have that game modded with a big mod so I don't want to uninstall it, but it literally cannot get past 3%.

I've tried aborting the download, which just broke the queue further and now it's stuck in Deleting the download, still always at 3%. I found some people saying to repair it instead but Galaxy stops me doing that with the repair button greyed out.

Do I really have to uninstall my games just to fix broken downloads?

Hello,

You can try clearing the download queue and see if that helps. The following should do it.
1. If GOG Galaxy is running, click the cogwheel in the top left and choose Exit.
2. In the File Explorer address bar, paste and go to the following: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
3. Delete the jobs.db file there (or move it to the desktop, if you don't trust you'll find it in the Recycle Bin if needed).

So this technically works, but it creates the problem again before I can do anything about it. It immediately queues an update to Empire Earth 2, gets stuck on 3% and can no longer unclog the download queue.

can't even tell it not to auto-update as its made that entire menu greyed out.

officially can no longer download games without deleting existing ones because it's broken.

You can try the above again, but also disconnect from the Internet before launching GOG Galaxy. Then see if you can disable auto-updates for the game under "More" (next to the Play button) - Manage Installation - Configure.

If that doesn't help, I'd try a clean reinstall:
1. Exit GOG Galaxy if it's running.
2. Move the whole C:\ProgramData\GOG.com folder to the desktop in case you need it later for some reason.
3. Uninstall GOG Galaxy.
4. Reinstall using the latest offline installer.
5. After logging into GOG Galaxy, disconnect from the Internet.
6. Cogwheel - Add Games & Friends - Scan Folders for GOG Games to add games that are currently installed.
7. "More" (next to the Play button) - Manage Installation - Configure to disable auto-updates for the games with issues.
8. Reconnect to the Internet.

If you haven't already, you can open a support ticket, though getting a response could take weeks if not months.

Finally got it to work by actually disconnecting my internet first. Feels like a really awkward workaround but at least it's fine again now.
My Skyrim download has stopped at 73%. ive tried pausing and restarting, checked my internet, all good, but no download.
I am having the same issue with the witcher 3, man this sucks. Should have paid full price somewhere else.
I also have some problems downloading my games with Gog Galaxy. Either it gets stuck on "obtaining game files" (something like that) or the download starts but hangs at around 80%. Sometimes, adding a download of goodies restarts the download but hey...
I see a lot of people who buy their first game here and find themselves asking for a refund because they can't download it and that freaks me out. ( What will happen to this store if people prefer to buy elsewhere?)
Admittedly, not all of us have this problem but idk.

I love that store man and i love that people step out of their comfort zones and buy their games here BUT only to...run away. And it's completely understandable.

They don't know about the existence of "offline installers".

In Short, to those who see this message and who cannot download their games with Gog Galaxy, know that you can access your games from the web version of the site.

Go to:

-> Games
-> Click on the game you want to install
-> Click on : Download offline backup game installers
Download game files only. Useful if you anticipate limited internet access, or want to have a backup. These installers don't support auto-updating, nor on-line features

- If the game is a single file, you have an .exe file that you will need to launch the installation.

- If the game has .bin files, you must download the first file (.exe) Small file, then download all the parts in .bin.
Put all this in a folder and launch the .exe. It will find the .bin files and you can install your game.

You can back up all your games like that, no need of an internet connection after and that's f*****g cool.

Hope they will fix this.

I have used Galaxy GOG many times and NEVER encountered this before. Now tonight I am for the first time.

I notice this thread is since June this year. So, they broke something recently?

Well I may just abort the download and refund the game I bought tonight. The "fixes" look for too complicated. And if people really are buying first time and getting this. I have every sympathy with them. But this is bad for GOG for sure. This could really break their reputation

Update:

I stopped download and started again. All was fine until I reached the same point I got to on first download attempt which was 92%. Stuck there again. So, I will be refunding as stated earlier.

I've found that shuffling my queue of active downloads is the only way to solve this from my experimentation over the last 12 hours.

Just did that and it worked. Thank you, your 12 hours of suffering helped me as well.
Edit: It froze again and shuffling my downloads didn't work this time. I will be taking all my future business elsewhere, since these people aren't interested in fixing their broken excuse of a launcher.

New to PC gaming, downloaded Baldurs gate 3 it downloaded 70.6 percent and has frozen, not sure what to do?
Found this thread by googling and here is what happened to me that might help anyone who comes back here for answers.

I was downloading witcher 3 and had to close gog/pc. When I came back and continued download, nothing happenened. It seemed to be stuck at 15 gb.

I kept gog still on hoping maybe it continues at some point. Didn't continue. Closed gog and started it again.

Now it was stuck in a different spot and it had downloaded 3 gb more, 18gb now. I guess even though download seems to be "stuck" and not refreshing every second, it is still downloading.

So keep your gog galaxy on, close it after hour or two and see if your download has different % and gb amount.

My GOG Galaxy download experienced the same thing too. It downloads, just gets stuck very often, and rather slow when not stuck. I downloaded a 2GB game in 2 hours. This is not the first time something like this happens.
