First computer was probably an Apple II or whatever machine I play monochrome green and black Karateka on back in the 80s, my first game ever.
First console would be the NES.
nes rip off pegasus
and when i was eight years old i got amiga600
it was awesome!
I was too young to remember what our first computer was, but I can remember playing various SCUMM games on it. My first console came much later, when I got a PSX. I feel comparitively young in here :P

carlosjuero: First console was an Atari 2600 - even had a special controller for some space game (that I can't for the life of me remember the name of, but the controller had little buttons on it for things like tactical grid, weapons, etc)

Jadefalcon: Star Raiders?
This pic shows a controller sitting on an old style VCS, is that what youre talking about?

Yep! Thats the controller allright!
First computer I can't remember the specs of. I remember it being a pure DOS machine, using both standard floppy discs and older 5.25 discs. The main games I used to play on it were Sierra adventure games (Parser and SCI engine games) and various DOS games. My dad had the Windows machine on the desk next to it, while I would have fun with all the old DOS games. Eventually, I'd have to start using the Windows machine for newer games, but man...that old DOS machine got TONS of use by me, especially during the summers.
First console that was technically the Colecovision since my dad worked for them and we had just about every piece of hardware available for it. But the one I remember actually opening up was the classic NES, with that lovely orange zapper and mario bros/duck hunt.
I think very first was a Commodore VIC-20, but looking over Wikipedia's list of games, the only one that sounds familiar is Clowns. We didn't have many games. The only others I remember were a punishingly difficult tennis game and a Pac-Man ripoff with ants that played "La Cucaracha" in full 8-bit glory. LOGO was fun, though.

When I got a ViC-20, the machine was dying game wise. My first games were four cartridge games in a bundle, two text adventures called The Count and Mission Impossible, a chess game and a Pac Man clone.
After that, the first 'budget title' appeared, with the introduction of Mastertronic as a company and this extended the life of the machine for a wee while. There were a few other companies that did similiar things, though these companies didn't cater solely for the ViC-20, also producing for the Spectrum, C-64 and even other machines like the BBC Model B, Dragon 32 and Oric-1.
My first console was the Colecovision. I also got an Odyssey 2 a few years after that at a rummage sale for $1. The first one I ever bought for myself was the NES. I spent a whole summer mowing lawns around the neighborhood to be able to afford it.
I think my family's first PC was the 286, which we didn't upgrade until the 486.
My first computer which was 'mine' was an Amiga 500, though I spent years playing my brother's Commodore 64/Amstrad CPC 464 prior to that, it was my addiction to the Dizzy games which ended up with me getting the Amiga as a birthday present (thank you glorious silver tongued game shop employee for showing my parents the Amiga version of Treasure Island Dizzy.) I loved my Amiga, so many awesome games.
For console my first was a Sega Master System, only had a few games for it though - only needed a few games as Wonderboy 3 the Dragons Trap (which is probably one of the best games ever) was pretty much all I played on it.
My first computer was a Pentium 166MHz with 32MB of RAM and Windows 95; I forget how big the hard drive was, but we later got an upgrade to a then-enormous 2GB. Either way, it was quite a powerful system at the time.
What's more, it had MMX! Whatever MMX was it (supposedly) made games run smoother and some even had MMX-exclusive visual effects, so at the time it was a very desirable thing to have. MMX is still supported in current Intel CPUs, but unfortunately their newer efforts at providing gaming power have been noticeably less successful.
First computer ran MS-DOS 5.0 along with Windows 3.1
First console was a SNES I got for Christmas.
First was in 1977. I could have sworn the brand was Spectravideo, but looking it up just now says that was a USA co. founded in 1981. Mine was a Canadian co, whatever the name was. Got it for £25 in my town's first computer store.
It was mainly a keyboard plus cassette deck. Type basic programs in from magazines, save them on cassette, and then hook into the TV for visual playback. The first computer game I played on it was a Four-in-a-Row, had a lot of fun changing the code to see the effect on the game! Later I would lust after the 16K RAM in the ZX Spectrum--never got one though.
Apple started their Euro HQ about 60 miles from me, so I got to play with friends' Apple IIs occasionally. In 1985 I joined another big computer co which had their Euro HQ in my home town, so from then on I was using PCs daily in my work. I don't recall the first brand(s), had no HD, 5 1/4" FDD [disks held 128K iirc], and monochrome monitor.
That company eventually started making PCs, so I bought my first home machine in 1990, a 386 stuffed to the gills with ahem 'extras from around the factory' :D The original Prince of Persia was the first game to make me go "Wow" at the animation, followed by Wolfenstein3D and it's amazing 3D environment. Been hooked since, with Command & Conquer and Half Life 2 being the intervening "Wows".
Never got a console, but the family have a Wii which has got a bunch of non-gamers rockin' and rollin'. Not sayin' that's a good thing, mind you, not if you're close by :) I've been building my own PCs since late 90s.
I'm a gamer from WAY back....
First Console was an Atari 2600? i think that was the number, i still remember my case of games i had with it at all times, Adventure and Maze Craze were my two favorites
First Computer i had was an Atari ST...played numerous hours of Silent Service and Roadwar 2000...anyone remember those?
As of today i own a SNES, Sega Genesis, Gamecube, Wii, PS1, PS2, PS3 and my Comp that is a few years old (looking to upgrade in a few months) A Gateway FX7020

Mine was a 486 with MS-DOS, a shared computer with my older cousin. Good times.
My first console was an Atari 65XE, I like the fact they needed to milk that extra 1 KB of ram that they could pretend to justify from it being 1024 * 64.
First PC was my dad's 286, it had a 20MB hard drive, and if I deleted all non essential DOS system files I was just able to get Dune 2 installed on it.
