No, Frankie Bogart... :-)
I don't really have a favorite, per se, but I have been extremely impressed by all of Sam Rockwell's work, particularly Moon. He never really seems to get a lot of recognition, though, which is strange because he generally steals the scene every time he's on camera.

I tried to think of a favorite actress, and I couldn't really think of one. This is going to bug me.
I am going with:

John Travolta - Male
Meryl Streep - Female
I expected this thread to have a lot of posts by now but I take that it's kinda hard to pick your favourite actor or I'm just being impatiant

I've always thought Bruno S was one of the greatest ever even though here really only made two movies. Clive Owen, for multiple things, but even absent everything else, for Children of Men. Tony Leung. Timothy Olyphant and Ian McShane for the obvious reason.

I'm also a huge sucker for DiCaprio. Vincent D'Onofrio is a ridiculously good actor. Milla Jovovich seems under appreciated as is Hugh Jackman and a bunch of others. It drives me crazy that actors like Daniel Day-Lewis don't make more movies. Robson Green for Wire in the Blood. He needs to make more TV shows.

Some of the best acting I've ever seen was by Steve McQueen in Papillion. Same can be said for Jonathan Rhys Meyers in the Tudors, especially the last 2 seasons in which his acting was just one of the best performances ever. Dennis Farina is another under used actor. Gunnar Björnstrand for Winter Light.

Eric Bana, Daniel Craig, Julianne Moore, Michael Caine, James Caviezel, Hugo Weaving. I'm really starting to like Henry Cavill too, except he needs to have a break out movie (other than Immortals or the Superman movie). Max von Sydow, Charles Bronson. Belmondo if only for Pierrot Le Fou. Jeremy Brett as Mr. Holmes.

Scott Bakula, Peter Weller, Patrick Stewart, Richard Dean Anderson, and Edward James Olmos for their sci fi offerings. Jason Statham for his endless string of movies.

Last but not least, Guy Pearce.

EDIT:

So am I just supposed to pick one? The title of the thread says "actors" so I thought it meant the top however many.

I was convinced that he was just going to be another generic teenage heartthrob after early stuff like Romeo and Juliet and Titanic, but he has been consistently excellent in basically everything. He only seems to take parts in "Oscar bait" type movies, though.
No clue then. Picking just one would be impossible for me. I was just naming some random good ones =)

Call me a liar, but I have never seen Titanic...........ever.........as of today.

also the only movie I liked from Leo DiCaprio was Catch me if you can because it also had Tom Hanks in it

Hard to say kind of, but a few very good ones I love:

- Tom Hanks
- Morgan Freeman
- Anthony Hopkins
- Raymond Lam

Can't think of any female actors. Will revisit this thread later after my mind is more clear. ^_^
I think the best acting I've seen in recent years is from Sharlto Copley (sp?) in District 9. My favorite movie of 2009 too.

My favorite actor overall would probably be either Liam Neeson or Alan Rickman. Both are just so enjoyable to watch, no matter the movie.

My favorite actress? Well that's easy: Allyson Hannigan. She isn't in any good movies, but her work on Buffy and How I met Your Mother is just phenominal. I also love Sigourney Weaver, mainly for the Alien series and Galaxy Quest( which also stars Alan Rickman!)
