**** GIVEAWAY NOW CLOSED ****

I grew up in the 80’s, and G.I. Joe was really big with me. This giveaway is a celebration of everything G.I. Joe! (Even if you’re not familiar with G.I.Joe, you can still participate in the giveaway just by doing a couple minutes of research).

The Timeline: The giveaway will end on Friday May 9th at 630am PDT.

The Prize: Up to $6 (but possibly up to $10) worth of GOG games of your choice! You don’t need to select your game(s) now, your choice may be influenced by whatever the Promo may be that weekend :).

The Requirements:
1. You must have a custom forum avatar (ie, anything other than the GOG-default avatar)
2. Please only enter for yourself, no entering for others. One entry per person.
3. Answer the following two questions:
- A) Who do you think my favourite “Joe” character was in the ’80s?
- B) Who do you think my favourite “Cobra” character was in the ’80s?

The Draw:
Everyone who answers both “A” and “B” correctly will be entered into a random draw to win (up to) $10 worth of GOG games of your choice! If no one gets both A and B correct, everyone who answered “A” or “B” correctly will be entered into a random draw to win (up to) $6 worth of GOG games of your choice! If no one gets “A” or “B” correct, everyone who attempted will still be entered into a random draw to win (up to) $6 worth of GOG games of your choice!

Other Notes:
For extra participation (not required for entry):
- Vote for the 1985 “G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero” computer game - Why? Because it’s G.I. JOE!!
- Discuss anything G.I. Joe related: past, present, or future. For example, what are/were your favourites?

Heh can't really remember much from it. must have been way over 20 years ago.

A) Sgt. Slaughter
B) Zartan

Thanks for the giveaway.
Not in, but +1.
Snake Eyes
Zartan

Those were my favorites at least ;)
Not in, but thanks and +1 for the giveaway. Oh, and I can't think of GI Joe without thinking of porkchop sandwiches. :)
Okay I had the aircraft carrier and the space shuttle so I've got to go in on this. Of course, my avatar isn't technically custom since I stole it from another site, but screw it. :P

As for the request, that is a toss up.

G.I. Joe: I'll play the odds and say Snake-Eyes. He was everyone's favorite. Well, not mine. I liked Jungle Trooper (Recondo) because his hat and gun were way cool but my answer will stand as Snake-Eyes.

As for Cobra: It stood at a toss up between Zartan and Cobra Saboteur (Firefly) until I realized that technically Zartan was not a member of Cobra but rather a mercenary who was more than willing to turn his back on one employer for the sake of a higher paycheck from another. So I'll go Firefly.

On a side note, anyone with an NES emulator can still find 'GI Joe and the Fate of Atlantis" easy enough, but only if you currently have the original cartridge; otherwise that would be illegal. :D

ANOTHER SIDE NOTE: My Zartan action figure could turn his head 360 degrees. Anyone else have that?

Not entering, but thank you for the giveaway, and here are my favorites:
A) Capt. Grid-Iron
B) Destro

And I love G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero, have it on NES and still play it every now and again. Voted!
I thought this thread was going to be about 'Yo! Joe! Beat the Ghosts'

erm, Joe Camel and Cobra Premium Beer? - You were a BAD kid!
I haven't seen any of the new movies, but man, the cartoon and little action figures were half of my childhood. Good times.

I'll give you my favorites and hope they were yours:

A) Bazooka
B) Cobra Commander

Are any of the new movies any good? I heard they were bad so I just stayed away. But I only really heard professional reviewers, not normal people.

I love the movies, but they are silly action movies and don't do much in terms of following the story of the comic books or cartoons; the ending of the 1st one with regard to Cobra Commander was great but they totally blew it with the Baroness and that did piss me off, totally ruining and trampling on the original character. I will say Arnold Vosloo makes the PERFECT Zartan and little cameos by characters like Dr. Mindbender are always fun.
Okay then, let's make some guesses!

Duke
Crystal Ball

I never watched Joe that much, honestly- can't even remember one character from the other.

Thanks for the giveaway, +1

My guess:

A) Roadblock
B) Serpentor

Thanks for the GA 01kipper.
Yo! Since I'm clueless with G.I. Joe (sorry!), I had to Google it. Went with

GI Joe himself and Destro (the name sounds cool).

Thanks for the giveaway!
I'm in, I used to love G.I.Joe when I was a kid.

G.I.Joe: Snake Eyes
Cobra: Destro

My brother and I had a huge collection of G.I. Joe's and Cobras back in the late 80s, my favorite character was Destro, because of his cool metal head. We had some great vehicles, my brother had the big black Cobra jet and the old 3 tier cobra base, while I had some of the G.I. Joe vehicles, like the Rolling Thunder and the Thunder Clap, I also had the very cool green and yellow bubble vehicle which I can't find any info on.

edit: it was the Cobra Bugg ^
