Hey guys, new here, and I'm sure I'm not making a particularly good impression by posting yet another thread suggesting OS X support for GoG.
I'm simply trying to make sure that the team at GoG knows how much Macers would love to see their library available natively on OS X by seeing demand in the forums.
I sent an e-mail to the company but didn't get a response, I'm sure it was simply a matter of my message being gobbled up by a spam filter, which is cool.
Hopefully someday soon we'll be able to see King's Quest, Duke 3D, Blood, Beyond Good and Evil, and the few dozen other titles I see available here that would be an instabuy for me if they came Mac side.
Thanks for putting up with me!
Much love.
No Windows 7 support yet.
Get in line.
Those games that run through DOSbox can be played on a mac by using Wine to install, then Boxer to run them.
Those running through ScummVM can be played through the mac version of the same application. Also using Wine to run the installer for extracting the game files.
I'm on my phone so you'll have to google the apps yourself, as I'm not really in an ideal environment for multitasking.
Wasn't expecting the community to be as helpful as such. Makes SPUF goers look like a second tier group.
I'm largely technologically illiterate, but I will certainly investigate what you suggested and see if it's something I'm willing to do as far as paying money for without a company's official support.
I'd still much prefer native support, but we'll see what we can do in the way of emulation.
Thanks man.
Well, there is strong "rumor" of GoG adding Mac Support. If I recall correctly, they showed a teaser of GoG on a Mac. Albeit, that could have just been teasing at the eventual "version 1.0" of the site, and the web design dude uses a mac.
By the way, here is a list of GOG games that use DOSbox.
Have long have we been in beta?
You guys are truly champs, thanks so much for pointing me in the right direction.
I'll never say that the "classy community" was a false advertisement.

Since Sept '08.
The iPad compatibility was just a joke ahead of the real announcement they were making at the time (Activision). They've promised Windows 7 support for quite some time now but they're still releasing titles without it. So seriously, don't go getting your hopes up. Unless GOG really pick up the pace you'll be waiting years.
Official OSX support is not likely to happen, but you can get most of the games running on the mac. There's a number of threads if you do a search on how to get this done. You will probably need at least a windows install to get to the files though, even if you don't play the games through it.
Valve is still rolling out their OS X support, and I'm hoping that other competent companies will follow suit (the state of Mac gaming pre-Steam was pretty abysmal, since Valve started backing us we got an announcement that the GTA3 series of games are coming our way, and I'm hopeful there is more yet to come).
I'm not so sure who Valve shares their usage statistics with, but I think the numbers they collect from the Steam client are changing some minds with regards to the perceived size of the potential gaming market on OS X.
At the moment, I will not bet with my dollars that GoG is coming to OS X, but I'm hopeful that it will. When that comes, I'll be thrilled to bits. Can't wait to connect with my old favourites once again.
Thanks for letting me know the state of the service in regards to Windows 7.
I'll be checking in periodically, and maybe I'll stick around to play in the forums with you guys.
Fingers remain crossed.

What ever it's worth, Gamersgate has offered Mac games for years now totalling around 200 products currently available.

I wouldn't hold my breath while waiting as GOG has many other priorities that are higher than Mac OS support. (Win7 support, multilanguage support, new price points, getting more games, getting more devs/publishers on board, getting out of beta and so forth) ;-)
Even if they eventually offer Mac (and Linux) support, it would probably only cover the DOS era games running on ScummVM and DOSBox as I don't think Wine can be packaged and made to run same way as them and using wine tricks (basically including windows native libraries) would be out of the question. Making native ports is way beyond capabilities of GOG even if they had access to source codes and permission to port them.
