If only I had been a kid when this happened.
....and yes I suppose this might be a bit much to start an entire thread about but for the fact that we are all devout gamers. :D

Also, during surgery rotations, if you are really good with the scopes and stuff the first thing the doctor or nurses ask you is if you play video games.

I don't know about this. In my impulsive school days I would have been very excited at the notion of making money playing games, but the more I think about it, the less I think I would be happy doing it.

If you think about it, would this actually be fun? Personally, I'd much prefer to keep my gaming casual and not to consistently be concerned about whether I am playing optimally, and then to practice hour after hour, day after day, trying to play more efficiently. Gaming to me is at its best when I book time for it after a hectic week. Nothing beats getting home on Friday with a pizza and saying to myself : "Game time!!!!"

any thoughts? (sorry if I'm a bit of a spoilsport wrt this shared childhood fantasy :P )

There are already professional gamers so some people must enjoy it. I do agree that most people might like the idea but would get bored of the reality.
