Well, after buying a complete copy of the full version of XCOM a while back after already owning the core game, it would appear that I have a copy of the XCOM Enemy Unknown core game in my Steam account that can be gifted to some lucky person. The question is, who?

To be in to win I need an idea for a Steampunk / Dieselpunk character for a book.

Additional information:
I would like permission to use the winning character as the beginning point for a more fully fleshed out character in a book at some stage in the future. I can provide no guarantees the book will ever be finished, nor the character used, and promise no royalties if I do finish it. However I do promise to recognise the character delveloper if I finish writing the book and use the character, or even just a part.

Just so you know, the book has been started but is currently on hold while I finish my first book, a sci-fi detective novel.

Just so you all understand, when the winner is chosen, then it is for that person to decide how they wish to use the game. Keep it and play it, gift it on further, copy it to a USB stick and powder the stick up so it can be snorted, turn it into indecipherable modern art and sell it for a million dollars.

I have won a few games here on gog.com from other people and simply wanted to pay it forward with my own giveaway, but it is not my intention to tell the potential new owner (ok, licensee; it is on Steam after all) what to do with the game once it is gifted.

I'd like to ask if you'd kindly allow me to pass the game to my friend who has recently lost a job and loves turn-based strategy games (who's partly basis for the above described character) if I happen to win. I do own XCOM along with all DLC and consider it aboslutely brilliant. I don't mention my friend losing his job to increase my likeliness of winning - if I don't, I'll eventually buy him the game myself - I mention it as a justification for passing the game along, as you've mentioned you'd like not to see that happen.

Oh, and seeing how does the giveaway go along, if I end up being the only entry - please keep the game and make another giveaway to keep things entertaining :-)

I am not sure where I said the winner had to play it themselves, but it might have been the wording where I said serious entries will have a higher chance of winning (not 100% guaranteed mind you!).

What I meant there was that entries with serious sounding characters had a higher chance, not entries for people who wanted to keep the game for themselves.

I have clarified my view in the OP now, but to reiterate: I don't really give a monkey's what the winner does after they have won. My involvement is only in this game, and in choosing the winner and giving the game away. Beyond that, the winner has every right to do what they want with the game, and I will be happy with whatever their choice happens to be!

I remember people saying that redeeming Legendary Skyrim won't give you a Vanila Skyrim gift if you used to have that before redeeming, Same with Dragon Age when redeeming Ultimate while having vanila?
