I was looking today at the Wikipedia article on one of the games available on gog.com, Medal of Honor: Allied Assault.
I found a reference to gog.com at the bottom of the page as External link: Medal of Honor at gog.com.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medal_of_Honor:_Allied_Assault

But it took me to look for gog.com name on the page since I knew it was available on gog.ocm.

But there is a sidepanel on the right side of the article which lists developer, publisher, deisgner etc. Would it be possible to add gog.com to this panel as copyright owner?

If I were looking at the Medal of Honor article in Wikipedia, not knowing anything about gog.com, and saw a reference to it as a current copyright owner (or whatever the legal name is for the gog's rights to sell the game), I would be interested in checking it out.

I mean, not putting an ad or anything, but I do not think there is anything wrong with adding information who owns the copyright. People would connect the dots anyway.

I could have just gone ahead and done it myself, but I thought, there could possibly be some reason or another that gog.com would not want it, so I decided to ask first.

Nowhere in the article it is mentioned that the game is available on gog.com.

So I thought, would it not help the gog.com to add references to the games on Wikipedia so that more people would know that games are available here?

Just add it. There are already references for other games released on Steam and GOG.

Yes, thanks, I just saw it myself after I posted my message. The thing is, it is kind of obscure there at the bottom of the page. I felt like having it at somewhat more prominent spot might do a better job.
Usually if you have questions about whether you add something to Wikipedia you can try to ask them on the talk page. Mostly you can just add things, and they'll be removed if they're wrong information.

You arrrrrrrrrrrre welcome ;)

But first I thought maybe a language issue, as wiki doesn't have the same links on every language page. And THEN I only realised you yourself pointed to the english one and I didn't look it up myself ;)

GOG isn't the copyright holder.

The first link is to GOG page, hardly obscure, but I suppose you could add in the first paragraph a sentence about the page digitally release, something like "In 20XX the game was re-released digitally at GOG and Steam".

Ah, that's why I felt uneasy about it.
Your suggestion is very good. I just wanted to be able to add something to the main text body, something which everybody (or most) read, not something on the bottom like References etc. which I suspect not many people read.
Although I wouldn't want to add "and Steam", let Steam fans add it themselves if they are interested (no offence whatsoever, I am just not a fan of Steam).

Given Wikipedia's emphasis on aiming for neutrality, I suspect they'd be unhappy about naming one retailer in particular unless there were some encyclopeadic reason to do so. A little searching also turned up (5) under http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:External_links#Links_normally_to_be_avoided
