ET3D: Never understood what was so great about it. I preferred the better 3D game that came (slightly) before it, Ultima Underworld.
3D is just the package, those are completely different genres; if you prefer Action RPGs and Dungeon Crawlers to FPS I'm not surprised. ;)

It was one of the first PC videogames I played (I think I was around 9 or 10) and it gave me my core political values, which I still follow. Killin' Nazis.

Leroux: Frankly, I never even got a chance to see any green sweat oozing from the pores of Staatmeister and his mutant rats, since my classmates only ever "got" the original version. :(
I think the SNES version was never released in Germany anyway. I remember, when I was around 14, I was in Luxembourg and finally saw how a real videogame store had to look like. I think I spend half a year of allowance on games (and was heralded as hero back home, for bringing in the goods). Ah yes, the times before the internet ....

You know, that version sounds WAY more awesome than the original one!

F4LL0UT: No, that's the devil's shit. God brought us GOG, a distributor who legally sells uncut versions to every country in the world. ;)

Actually, IIRC, the North American release of Giants actually do have the Sea Reapers topless; they just had to take out the nipples (I think it was Wal-Mart and Target who threatened to not stock the game before this).

Dang forgot about those! Okay, so GOG screwed up several times but we both know that normally they offer uncut versions to the whole world, even of games that are on the infamous German "index". ;P And well, I never considered the BloodRayne "swastikas" censorship in the first place. I thought it was a creative decision (especially since this applies to several releases, also those from countries that have no problem with swastikas).

Ahahaha! XD
Never let it be said that violent video games convey bad values only. :P
Wow, the framerate on my rig is horrible, just like 20 years ago... :D

Wait, really? Never noticed that.

I nearly fell laughing of my chair when one of the cops in Interstate 76 exploded and screamed the classic "Mein Leben" .
Halt! Kommen Sie! Ausweiss!

For all the praise it gets, Wolf 3D is a bastardised reboot of old Castle Wolfenstein and Beyond Castle Wolfenstein dilogy, which were edge of the seat stealth action games that brought the audience lockpicking, holding enemies at gunpoint and robbing them, disguising yourself as a guard, stealing passes, bribing, being low on ammo. That and the levels were random.

Seriously, carrying >100 rounds, gunning everyone down and looking for "treasure" has literally nothing to to with the originals. Yet that "reboot" unlike most of them delivered a new genre.

Nope. In American version that blue lady wears bikini, in normal version she doesn't. It may be easily restored in GOG game by simply removing one file.

You should mention that those games are from friggin '81 (and '84)!

Yes, and they are friggin awesome. '84 BCW actually adjusts synthesized voice pitch so that guards in different rooms sound differently. Oh, and if your guy gets wounded, he limps - there is no health bar. And the sound of guard's footsteps makes it hard to listen on the lock you pick, so they often have to be shot. You can shot the locker of course, but they might contain explosives.
Anyone who can't be arsed to play should at least watch the LPs of both games by Frankomatic.
