Ehy GOG, I was thinking if it's possible to do something like the promo witch Valve did when they released the PS3 version of Portal 2.

So, buying a PS4 copy of the game will give you a GOG code to redeem. You can do something using Playstation Network, to avoiding the re-sell of these code.

Is this possible? I haven't a proper PC to play Witcher 3, but I own the whole series here on GOG, and one day I'll want play it again on PC (when I will upgrade my hardware).
they might do it with X1 since CDRed has partnered with Microsoft and Xbox for the new game. Will get it on pc but I hope you'll get your pc copy as well :)

Didn't know about this partnership but yes, they can do it for both console, and would be a great move.
Valve found a way in which you must put your disk on to redeem the PC Copy, they can do the same thing, so there won't be a code reselling.

It still boggles my mind that CD Projekt RED partnered with Microsoft/XBox instead of Sony/PlayStation, as the XBox brand is widely known for crapping all over the European market and CDPRED is a Polish company.

It's even more awkward when you think the XBone reveal had CDPRED on stage talking about The Witcher 3 and a few days later the console release schedule got publicly known and Poland is not getting any love whatsoever from Microsoft, as they are one of the last countries to be getting the XBox One -- I don't think it got released here in Portugal yet, actually, at least I heard nothing about it nor do I see units for sale in stores.

With that being said, it sure would be nice if the nice folks at CD Projekt RED made an option for us PS4/XBone owners to get an extra Witcher 3 code for a GOG PC version.

Yeah don't know what happened there :p maybe cause of the W2 on 360 only release and they made a deal back then, who knows. I don't own a console and don't care for the console wars but I guess everyone should enjoy every game. But exclusives will exists since gaming industry is about making money and it's a business.

Also I know that MS is hated by everyone but tbh I still like them as publishers cause unlike activision, EA, and other big companies, they give the developers full freedom. And they have released much more published content then any other publisher. What struck me the most was the initial X1 drm policy :p Being online all the time and stuff and knowing how much gog/CDRed hates DRM. Yet it was somewhat justified by the witcher team

We couldn’t simply not release The Witcher 3 on Xbox One. We want to make sure that every single player will have access to our game and thus decided to deliver for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
“There are people who don’t mind the DRM protection and will pick Xbox One as their platform of choice. We can’t punish them. Again, we always stress the fact that we’re against DRM, but in the market system it’s the clients who make the final decision. As developers, we need to create best content we can and make it available for as many players as possible

Being a anti DRM developer and not releasing witcher 2 title on the ps3 made me wonder about their statement. Oh well, guess business is business.

I didn't mean to hate on Microsoft or the XBox One, I was just stating facts. It's true that they (XBox department) don't care that much about the European market and audience, with the notable exception of the UK. I wasn't even talking about the whole pro-DRM stance.

I agree with you when you say people should just enjoy their games, regardless of platform, and leave petty console wars and "PC master race" talks behind them, but that doesn't mean I'm willing to embrace and excuse XBox's anti-consumer policies or their neglect of the European customers.

I had an XBox 360 for five months, in order to play Alan Wake. I kept reading about how great the online stuff and experience were on the 360, but to be honest it simply is completely dumbed-down in most of Europe. I couldn't buy most of the highly acclaimed XBL games, the indie store simply didn't exist. Then, the freaking thing RRoD'd on me and I never even bothered with getting a replacement, as the service and support were pretty much non-existent. So, yes, it's obvious why Europe is Sonyville, since Sony caters to their European customers and doesn't treat us like "second-rate Americans". If people prefer the XBox brand over the PlayStation one, they're more than entitled to it, I'm just confused as to why on earth did CDPRED, an admittedly pro-European, pro-DRM-free developer, would choose to side with XBox, an anti-European, pro-DRM manufacturer/distributor.

Like you said, business is business, I guess, and I have no clue as to what contracts and legal issues there are.

Yeah I know you weren't starting a console war or anything like :p Was just pointing out something :)

And you are absolutely right about MS not showing Europe any love lately. They are an international brand but yes their support for the European markets is very weak in comparison to other big brands like Coca Cola (then again you can't compare food industry with tech). But their support is a bit better in comparison to Apple. They focus only on US and UK (but UK is an exception cause everything US does, they have a 100% UK support). When Applle announced that Iphone would be 299-399$ worldwide, I though hey why not. I'll buy it since everyone is in love with this device for some reason. Then it turns out that it costs around 700€ in Belgium cause certain phone companies have monopolized the brand in Europe and they bundle it with monthly subscriptions. So I went for HTC, much cheaper and got more for my money.

Anyways to stay on topic (sorry), CDRed has shown the American costumers MUCH love. Most European RPG's are even unknow in the US since most American gamers like to but games from their own markets. So I don't quite understand the deal between MS and CDRed.
Maybe Witcher 2 was a Microsoft exclusive (console side)?
If yes then Microsoft paid some money to CDProject, it's simple.

There are a lot of reasons for a PC/360 game to avoid PS3 that have nothing to do with paid exclusivity. The PS3 is a much different machine and harder to port to, and the Western RPG audience is concentrated on 360 and PC.

This could be too, Cell was hard to manage for developers, while the 360 is similar to a PC.
