Not sure if people are aware of this or not, but there is a project currently in the works via the Kickstarter website to recreate the Wing Commander soundtrack as an orchestral score. If anyone is interested, please take a look. There is only 24 days left to pledge.

That is interesting, but, man, paying an entire orchestra sure doesn't come cheap. I mean 35,000 bucks for 15 minutes of music (stretch goals pending)?

I might still pitch in because I love the music in the WC games, but I sure hope that those stretch goals work out.

I have yet to play my Wing Commander, so I am not totally aware of the awesomeness of these games. But the orchestral project sounds cool, thanks for posting about it!

I'm mildly interested, but not enough to chip in. I probably still prefer the original Roland MT-32 music. I always loved especially the soothing music in the sleeping quarters of the first game.

Be sure to set up Munt (Roland MT-32) emulator for the first two games.

Wing Commander 3 (and I think 4, and Armada) are General MIDI games, so they don't need Munt. But BASSMIDI + Chorium Rev A soundfont will probably make their music sound much better too.

Strange as it may sound, I have not played all that much of the Wing Commander games myself. So it may seem strange me posting this here. I am however aware that this site sells the games, and since they do have a significant fan base, that people would be interested in this who are indeed fans of the series.
