I don't know the exact book, but, it is funny how the 'quest for help' is somewhat repetitive ;)

On that note, it's a pity that I always wake up too late to enter the easy contests :/

Yeah, it's too easy if you can just google the answer key.

Math minor here. I'm loving this contest already, and I haven't even entered.

I didn't intend to hint at the difficulty because of the possibility to search for answers, but because the mathematical problem at hand wasn't all too tricky.

Is it still possible to enter, despite the 'answer list' posted by rooshandark8?

I'd welcome some harder math (just to see what my math minor is worth), but please don't assign proof questions, because proofs are too easy to google. But the harder the math, the less accessible it would be to most people... I dunno how many people go beyond basic calculus. So I guess you should assign brainteaser type questions.

You can make proof questions that aren't all that significant universally (or at least don't seem that way) and so are quite tricky to find online. I got this notion from my math major homework (that I occasionally have tried to cheat my way out of in frustration).

How far does a Math(s) minor go? I did joint honors for my first year, and the words "by a corollary of the mean value theorem" made me want to headbut pencils. Apart from that it was linear Algebra all the way, and I thought - screw this, I like the programming.

True, but any proofs that obscure are probably nontrivial to do. Accessibility is also an issue

Yeah, math minor was not too difficult, I didn't have to take the full analysis (baby rubin) sequence or any 400s, for that matter, so I filled it with all the fun applied stuff.
