Hey guys. When I boot up any DOSbox powered game. I see the outdated version of 0.72 or 0.73 on the window tab for a second. I think I understand why some games either crash on me and/or have poor performance . But come on, 0.74 is out already! What GOG needs to do for now on is updating the DOSbox emulators in their games. That'll make the games more stable!

But then, they'll have to test the whole game again. It would take a lot of time/resources to do this.

Generally, if they released a game with a specific version of Dosbox, then the game can be played without any problem with that version (though there is a bug in Lure of the Temptress which needs an up-to-date version of Dosbox or Scummvm, whatever it uses).

Anyway, you can download the latest version and use it if you want.

Staff member Resil confirmed a few weeks ago in the #GOG IRC channel that they've been testing all of their DOSBox games with 0.74. So yes, we'll get that sometime.
I've tested the crap out of only one doxbox GOG so far. With 0.74 and some tweaking to the conf file, Teenagent runs better and the sound doesn't stutter. :)

It would be nice if GOG update the installations, but its not a big deal to do it ourselves. Tbh, I see GOG now as a way to get a game's files, I make custom installs that suit me myself once I have downloaded the game.

If they do update the games to 0.74 in the future. Does this mean I have to delete the old game installers and download the new ones huh?

Unless you feel obligated to use their configuration files, then yes. Otherwise, just manually update and change settings.
So how do you do it?

Download DOSBox 0.74, and install over what your game installs. Then proceed to edit the dosbox.conf file to whatever settings you want. (Check DOSBox site for explanations).
OK. I'll give it a try.

What kind of explanations? Do I have to install the core files over for example: c:\ProgamFiles\GOG.com\RiseOfTheTriad?
