Pretty much what the title says, since we have seen some bullfrog titles been updated recently, does this mean will see Duke 3D updated to Megaton Edition?
I doubt we'll see the Megaton edition, as the lobby/matchmaking system uses Steamworks, although we may see a pared-down version of it with only LAN multiplayer (this is what Divinity: Dragon Commander did, a great solution IMO) or at least the expansion packs added to the DOS version at some point.

Devolver Digital is already on board of GOG

If they have to remove multiplayer then so be it, I just want the rest of the expansions here

I HATE having incomplete versions of games here on GOG

not to mention that updates like this reinvigorate a game sale here
i've been playing the megaton edition recently but I haven't seen any multiplayer option in the menu

The MP is in beta right now.

oh cool, i had no idea
I emailed Devolver Digital and asked about this shortly before the game was released. I told them that I wanted to give them my hard earned money for their work, but not if Steam was involved. I won't use Steam, not now not ever. They told me:

As of right now this will only be available with Steamworks as there are future updates planned that necessitates their platform.

I was excited by that "As of right now" and asked about a Steam Free release in the future. They came back with a more definitive:

There are some planned features that require Steamworks. Sorry to disappoint but here is key if you'd like to try it out. :P

And they gave me a Steam code for the game. On the one hand I thought it was pretty cool of them to have taken the time to respond, even if it wasn't the response I wanted, and to give me a free copy of the game. Of course I was also pretty mad at the audacity it took for them to give me a Steam code after I told them that I refuse to use Steam.

So take from that what you may but I'm personally not too hopeful to see the Megaton Edition here on GOG anytime this decade.
Ah well, I guess I will pick up the game on Steam at some point.

Still, thanks anyway guys.
I'm tempted to join Steam just for those expansions, alas I will resist the urge.
