because the plot says so
Yeah, lots of PF install folders are weird by default. An example, for the CD versions of all of these:

Baldur's Gate & Icewind Dale (and sequels) install to /Black Isle/.
Fallout 2 installs to /Blackisle/. (no space)
Fallout 1 installs to /GSP/.

And that's the SAME publisher, into three different folders.
Because the maker of the installer said so. :p
All of my installers point to to C:\Program Files\gdfsgsdfhgsdfghsdgfh.
I'm surprised that the question was taken taken seriously at first - I didn't think it was, considering that it's rather hard to overlook the publisher folders if you ever installed just a handful of games. That said, I've personally overlooked bigger things in the past, and I apologize if the question _was_ meant seriously. :)
Default folder? What's that? I have my Windows on a separate partition that it shared only with utility software. Oh, and my C: drive letter is reserved for removable flash sticks.
Aw man, I feel your pain!!

But I recently found out that most games have this "custom installation" option, so I use that now and just change "Fox" to "Duck".
