Last time I checked, if you have the regular one, you can get a massive patch to turn it into the Enhanced one for free.
And in Steam, for example, there is no listing for the regular one, just the enhanced version.

The full EE patch is just under 2 gb

They might wait to put Witcher 1 on GOG closer to the Witcher 2 release simply to do a cross-promotional thing.

It's a thought.

Anyhoo, crazy Dave's idea's a pretty good one, that'd be a good way to promote TW2. I can't wait for the second one, and I'd happily rebuy the first on GOG.

If it works on win 7 now I would definitely but it from GOG.

I don't understand why it being on sale on steam changes anything. Everybody has sales, doesn't mean they wanna lower the price permanently

It will come, we've just got to wait for that long tail to roll around to the GOG.com phase. I imagine they've still selling a moderate amount of copies at $20 so there's no reason for them to simply drop it down for $10 and lose out on revenue.

I don't think $20 for a 4 year old game is "unusually high." Pretty much every hit game from 4 years ago is $20 standard and that's not even considering that The Witcher was re-released with extra content a year or so after that.

In any event it might have less to do with price and more to do with Atari mucking things up. Yes they have TW2 on GOG despite Atari, but it's all about the parameters of each contract.

In any case I don't really care because I own the Enhanced Edition in a box and don't feel the need to re-purchase it for no reason.

I wondered this too. I got my copy of The Witcher EE from, guess who ? Steam, of all places. As part of their Holiday Sale. Now why would Steam have TWEE, but not GoG ?

As the GOG.com staff have already confirmed: this is because different publishers own different rights to distributions in different regions US/EU etc...

they did however say that they are working on it and talking with Atari...so let's hope we will see it soon because I have no doubt that we will see it before the sequel comes out

Well, that was... Clever of them. I would have thought that as an independent company they'd have done a little more to protect their game - by this I mean that Valve can distribute their own games on Steam despite the retail versions being published by EA, I would have though GOG would make a similar deal with the publishers.
