Wpegg gave about 30 copies of the game to members of the forum, a while back...

If it wasn't for him, I might have never showed any interest to this game.
Sacrifice is amazing. I remember I got it from my grandfather after he purchased a new graphics card for his computer. Needless to say, I took full advantage of that graphics card. :)

That's actually how I came across Morrowind, too. Both became instant favorites with me.
I'm liking all this talk of Sacrifice,I can remember a time (before I knew about Gog,com) when Sacrifice was all I played,I played it to death, and I agree that more people need to play the game.
Whats the best way to describe the game, it's said to be the spirtual successor to Magic Carpet (a game I've played and owned countless time and love), in what way is this true?
Sacrifice is, sadly, one of the most underrated games of all time, along with Giants: Citizen Kabuto.

Don't forget about Impossible Creatures and Majesty: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim. Great games...

And,and..The Guild.

Great. You killed the thread.
Maybe because even the GOG version is a bitch to get running properly. Maybe people check the forums and see a lot of issues posted there?

Nothing wrong with The Guild, but I don't think it belongs on the same list as Giants, Sacrifice and Majesty: The fantasy kingdom sim.
And yes, Sacrifice really belongs on the list of "criminally overlooked games that critics loved and people did not buy". Heck, it deserves to be far higher on that list than Psychonauts and Beyond Good & Evil.

Me and Ultimatum are referring to an old joke here on GOG. :)

There are problems with all games. Have you checked the HOMM forum? It's full of all sorts of bugs, from all the games. But all of them are usually solved, just like in the Sacrifice forum.

Rationalising doesn't work when you try and apply it to the actions of the majority.

People see game they don't know. People check forum of said game. People see other people with problems. People make the :/ face and start to consider other games on offer.

Of course, I acknowledge that I might be giving people too much credit in saying they're going to check the forums first. But I like to think that GOG's demographic is still some distance away from the impulse-buying 8 year olds of Xbox Live.

Great. Now I sound elitist. :P
