Telika: English is absolutely random, no relation whatsoever between vowels and the sounds they make in a given word.

English is a purely written langage and is simply not supposed to be spoken.

I disagree, but only in a trivial way. It's very much a spoken language, it's just unfortunate that the system for writing it is completely broken.

Basically, it works fine as a spoken language OR a written one but not both at the same time. Not without a massive spelling reform.
