Fenixp: Of course it won't. This community used to be quite welcoming, non-agressive and generally nice, and up until about 7 or so months ago, I kept defending it, for better or worse. Say what you will, but the OP went into the thread and wated trade codes for steam cards - he was upfront about his intentions, and whether or not someone values the cards is for him alone to decide, not for a bunch of downvoters. OP wasn't trying to scam anyone or anthing along these lines - he was going into the classifieds thread with the intention of honest trade (presumably at least, no idea if he is honest or not). But the community just decided 'NOPE'
Let's be clear clear about something, i didn't implied that the OP had anything but good intentions when he put the cards up for trade or that i know which was the motivation behind the downrate, what i said was that looking at it without bias "people here don't like steam much, people here are shit, thus it figures that every scrap of steam related content gets automatically downaretd" was not the first thing that came to mind because it's bullshit.
And for better or worse IT IS up to the community to decide whatever it is the community ends up deciding, it is not up to you, me, or Mr. Rodgers to make that decision for an entire community. Beyond that you'll either accept that things won't always go the way you'd want to see them go or you won't but if your fundamental complaint is that the world doesn't work as you decided it should work, well, i'm not sure what to tell you other than brace yourself for a lot of dissapointment throughout your life.
Fenixp: And that doesn't only apply to classifieds thread. Lately, the community is getting progressively more agressive, hostile even. Doesn't matter if it's a guy looking for a trade or simple discussion of preferences - everything around is much more tense now. The reason why GOG community was the one I have stayed in for so long is because I've never had a reason to be afraid to post just what I think, and when I did, more often than not I got a constructive and insightful discussion. Now I can't even say that I dislike bloody aspect in a certain genre without a solid probability of getting called names. Recently I wanted to post up a thread about how controllers can actually enhance a gaming experience - then I have remembered crosmando and just ... Stopped. So yeah, I will get annoyed when signs of this increased agression surface, even when it's dowrepping of somebody who wants to trade.
Yes, those behavioural shifts tends to happen when growth brings about a wider gap between the fringes, conflicts and animosity tend to creep up more often and the increased fluidity tends to bring about more randomness and chaos. What do you propose ? To outline 'nicety' as seen by Fexinp and replace GOG's TOS with it ?
