Her last album flew under the radar, as her range and pitch had dropped, but it was a solid set of songs.

Who cares if she did it to herself, she had the most powerful and technical voice in pop.
RIP but damn - definitely going to be an overdose again.
sit tibi terra levis

I won't weep over her, as I wouldn't weep over any other cocainehead in the world.

This is something I agree with.

What an immature and ignorant worldview.

Is it really immature and ignorant to refuse to weep for somebody who essentially killed themselves slowly over many years?
Today I was fired from my job as a policeman.

I had to inform a family of the death of one of their family members and apparently saying "Houstons, we have a problem" is inappropriate.

And one for the Brits :

Aaron Ramsey (Arsenal FC) scores:
vs Man Utd - Bin Laden dies.
vs Tottenham - Steve Jobs dies.
vs Marseille - Gaddafi dies.
vs Sunderland - Whitney Houston dies.
So the curse lives on..

Surely if he scores 100 more, we can wipe out Justin Bieber and Rebecca Black.

Drug addictions are hardly "chosen". It's called an "addiction" for a reason. She wasn't doing coke of a hooker while driving 200 mph along Malibu and crashing in to a daycare facility for disabled kids..

And we don't even know how she died. At least out of respect we should wait before jumping to conclusion, even it looks all to obvious. Maybe it was suicide?

If someone offers me a drug, I can choose NOT to accept it. If I do, everything what happens to me after that (addiction and other related stuff) is my own fault.
Why don't we honor Whitney's memory with this thread, which I believe was the intent of the OP, instead of using it to voice personal opinions about addiction?

I understand Jennifer Hudson will be singing a tribute to Whitney at tonight's Grammy's. Reminded me that Jennifer also sang when Whitney was honored at the BET Awards in 2010. Chilling to see Whitney standing in the audience responding to Jennifers rendition.

To have gazillions of dolars, all the fame she could ever dream of , and still get an addiction. This is the biggest LOSER i've ever heard of.

Many crackheads don't have such opportunities and choices as she had. She CHOSE addiction.

I can understand a hooker doing drugs. I can really pity her, because cocaine / meth / whatever can be her only way of coping with all shit she's been through.

But Whitney? That bitch didn't have enough brains to say "no, I may spend my dollars in any other way, cause im fucking famous and rich". With all the money she had, she CHOSE coke as her end.

I find it kind of funny that such a huge persona she died a death of said hooker or any other oridinary junkie

cjrgreen: This is very sad. Even though her voice lost its beauty years ago, her death is still a great loss.

Also, a friend in need is a friend indeed, but a friend in Hollywood is no friend at all. Everybody around her saw this coming, as recently as Thursday, and did nothing to help her keep from self-destructing.
Is this about the handstands by the pool? Do you know if this was reported before her death on Saturday, or after it?

My guess is alcoholic liver disease, not suicide or accidental overdose. But that's just a guess, based on her longstanding alcoholism and descriptions of her bizarre appearance and manner last Thursday.

It was observed by many people on Thursday, but intentionally shut up. She was also described as bloated, disheveled, and unfocused at a rehearsal that day, and drunk and combative at a party that night, and at some point she cut herself.

But her handlers and the Grammy handlers carefully suppressed all of that, carefully kept her out of view, and did nothing to help her. The witnesses understood the great importance of keeping up appearances in this company town, and complied.

With nobody around to close your eyes?"
