Once the tools for tracing this kind of thing are put in and endorsed as law though, on the pretext of catching the providers, it's only another lobby from the special interest groups that plague the USA to extend that law to punish the watchers as well, on the pretext of helping dissuade the overseas providers or whatever this time.

Exact same argument and outcome as the fight against music sharing. Sure it won't be a felony to watch it, but still likely bad and heavy enough for most peoples' tastes, all in the name of helping to pad said lobbyists belonging to said special interest groups, so they don't have to adapt to provide better service for less.

orcishgamer: I was using "you" in the plural sense, replying to you specifically because your post was already skirting the point I was making.

However I know what "you" (singular) are thinking because I'm so smart:)

hedwards: One of the reasons why one should use one instead of you, because you never know what one is intending to say with the use of the word "you" in that context. ;-)
English used to have perfectly working singular you, it was "thou", and it was discarded. Now see what you get? (Do you see what I did there?) ((Ahah! I did it again!))
Wasn't the Patriot Act and NSA warrant-less wiretaps in '05 a huge talking point for Democrats? I can't imagine that people who voted for Obama could actually be happy about this. If they are, it must not be the principle that they're against.

Meanwhile, the other 60% of Americans will continue with their complete disgust for the government and go on with their lives in a voluntary manner, while the other 40% keeps telling them that they're too stupid to know what's going on and that's why they don't vote. I mean, I'm sure those voters were so much smarter than everyone else that they knew that their beloved candidate voted for cloture on a similar wiretap issue months before even being elected.

I'm a fan of neither big, US political party, but Obama has been breaking promises and caving left and right, caving on this is no surprise, really. He almost gave healthcare an honest attempt. Sadly, Bush was much better at getting unpopular things done. Really, there's not much difference between the two, neither party represents the people anymore.

The FBI is the biggest criminal organization on the planet. Nothing epitomized this more than the lack of 'investigation,' public legitimate documentation, thoroughness and integrity during the 9/11 Commission. I'm still waiting for pictures of the plane that crashed into the Pentagon, and what the explanation for Building 7's fall (but of course, perhaps this bit of news may finally lead to the answers!).

Thus it only makes sense for this to be such an endeavour by them and the White House. The real question that ought to be raised is what are the FBI and White House hiding?

michaelleung: That's right - your tax dollars will go to hunting down these damn thieves who want to stream films, TV shows, live sport online without paying for it!
Be very very quiet....I'm hunting wabbits.

I'm having a real hard time believing that a large general government has ever been for the people. My strong dislike of Alexander Hamilton keeps getting stronger by the day.

I'll start voting as soon as two things are done. 1) There are no political parties (at least not on the ballot) and 2) I can vote "none of the above." If none of the above wins, everyone has to go home, sit in a corner and think about what they've done wrong for a bit. If those who govern represent the people, it should be no thing at all to do this. Somehow I don't think that they would want to risk it, which really tells us who they represent.

Lol, number 2 is a great idea!
Hahaha... that's pretty bad. Doesn't really effect me, but making it a felony is way over the top. My aunt and her beer buddies stream PPV sports events all the time, I'll have to warn her.

Heh, they're not mine though. They just make sense to me.

Here's #2 if you want to read about it - http://nota.org/

#1 was actually taken from the state I live in. It is unique in that it is the only state legislature in the nation to be nonpartisan. There are no party affiliations attached to a legislator's name, either on a ballot or while in session. Of course, this doesn't stop people from associating with a political party, but it does seem to cut down on arguments about partisanship and add more discussion to the issues at hand. At least my state was able to get that part right so far. Still, I think that none of the above is more important.

Yeah, I was thinking a $50 fine. Shoplifting is a more serious crime than this. I did stream a Fedor Emelianenko fight on Showtime PPV one time because I could have had every single package that my cable provider offered and still not been able to get Showtime PPV. I guess I should be in jail for at least a year and have no shot of ever integrating back into the world now.
