Coelocanth: Actually, all the versions are DRM-free, even the Steam version (you can run it without Steam). This is why it's such a big kick in the head to GOG customers.

RadonGOG: Let´s wait till tomorrow as that date is a regular GOG-ReleaseDate.
GOG had it´s SummerSale and I´m sure that Larian is smart enough to avoid the aftermaths of the SummerSale, so I thought of a release late at (european) night. But it didn´t happen.

And BTW: Things like this read like a big accident... (from Kickstarter-Site)
"-GOG keys will be sorted out tomorrow. I would like to say 2 things about this: up to last week the entire crew at Larian thought we were going to launch with Galaxy support and the only reason you can't redeem your GOG key is that your Steam key is in use. People who didn't use their Steam key can already redeem their GOG key."
Read the other Thread. It is official, the release Date is in two month...

Yes, the KS backers (of which I am one) can get the game right now (I'm currently DLing it). But the GOG release date for non-backers isend of Aug. G-Doc posted this date Here. So there's not going to be a release tomorrow. Whether this is GOG's decision or Larian's is unknown, although someone has specualted it has to do with GOG's no-regional-pricing policy, but whatever the reason GOG is going to lose a huge amount of revenue on this game due to this delay.

Already read this but I still don´t think that this will hold on longer than one week. Folks DEMAND beeing threated the same and as Larian already stated GOGLaunch was actually PLANNED for today with GalaxyFeatures! (Maybe GalaxyAlpha or so; nobody knows...)
So I belive that they´d turn out to be a dick towards customers---they all know that the spirt of crowdfunding in gaming is creating ART availible for EVERYBODY who want to pay for that and never seperating the customers into groups!

They know about the ShadowRunShitstorm; they won´t do a thing like that!
Mine appears in "My Account" now. 6.4 GB. Its gamecard is active. Its forums/support link to General however.

If the game is available for backers who wanted Gogkey, there should be NO reason for this release to be held back to be purchased.Galaxy no Galaxy. This is unfair to the Gog user base who has been looking forward to this game and we'll bit of a kick to the nuts. Two months delay??? Come on at least be honest and tell us the real reasons for the delay.

I wonder if Larian had a hand in this delay. However, I don't see what they would have to gain by forcing GOG to hold the game back for two months.
Huh? It's been over the night here and I still don't see the GOG option on Larian Vault both on my original copy and duo copy. The hell. Steam users are already playing the game...
Sent them an email over Larian Vault's issue of not being able to select GOG as yet. Getting paranoid since it's a new day over here.

Kunovski: what's the problem, my friends? I've already downloaded the GOG installer a minute ago... GOG didn't make a mistake here, Larian has problems with delivering the codes...
avatar
Lord_Britania: The problem is not for the KS bakers...but for the non bakers who are forced to wait 2 months because of a useless client implentation
hmm, that's quite silly... I was hoping many people would start playing and some patches would come sooner :/

anyway, I don't understand why GOG can't start selling the game and work on the implementation in the meantime, then release a patch with Galaxy support? the only reason I can think of is incompatibility, but that would mean I shouldn't really start playing the game, as in 2 months there will be a new version of the game that won't be compatible with my current version (saves)...

it would really be nice if GOG could elaborate on the whole situation, but I'm sure they're preparing some statement right now... :)

It's 7:20 am here right now. You sent them an email at night. That won't help.
I'm also waiting for the GOG option.

Yeah sucks living on the other side of the globe. Missed out on a few WC matches.
Looks like I posted a similar topic in Divinity forums but it may help people looking for info...

Link to the original post

Divinity: Original Sin released the 31st of August on GOG?

Seriously?

I mean, I only buy my games on GOG and Humble (not Steam hater but just not my cup of tea) but I'm surely representing 1% of the audience here. Tell the others that they'll have to wait for the end of the holidays (!!!) to buy a time-consuming RPG game and they'll simply go on Steam.

Moreover, wasn't this one of the games which was link to the "regional pricing" issue (on which I could understand GOG's position)? Because, if so, it's at least expected to have the game released at the same time as everywhere else otherwise what's the point?

I've been defending GOG's position on various topics (regional pricing, new games, DLC, pre-orders...) because I felt they made sense but this is quite unexplainable. And a possible link between this game and Galaxy would be the worst excuse because:
- backers don't have Galaxy and can download the game (more or less seeing the feedback in the forum);
- this would mean "Galaxy is required to play Original Sin" which would mean Galaxy = DRM.

My guess? Some sort of exclusivity contract with Steam, in which case they can't talk about it because that's the kind of things your contract, your marketing and your lawyer tell you to be silent about. The Galaxy thing may have been some sort of conpensation ("You won't have the game day one, but we'll have it run on your new shiny multiplayer client when it comes out"), but they shot themselves in the foot with a bazooka by tying it to the delay. A clumsy "good news covering some bad news" announcement, when a "bad news, but with some good news" one would have been recieved far more positively, I think.

Not a big problem for me (I just finished Div 1, so I have some games, and some time, before I buy this one.), but still a major communication faux-pas that kinda tarnishes their image.

yeah, you're right...

what's worse, it seems that the blues that are posting here and trying to explain either don't know the reason, or they can't really talk about it... I still hope that any time soon there will be an official announcement with a proper explanation :)

well, if this ("Galaxy is required to play Original Sin" which would mean Galaxy = DRM...) is true, then why is it possible for the backers to have a proper DRM-free version here, right now, available to play? this is really perplexing...

I guess the Arrow would say something like "GOG, you have failed this city!" or something like that ...
