It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

I just upgraded my home internet to a new 30 Mbps connection and I wanted to see how fast I could download games from gog.com. I'm curious what kind of average download speeds others are getting right now.

I verified that I do actually have a 30 Mbps connection via speedtest.net. I'm currently downloading some games, but I'm only getting about 20-30 kbps per connection (i.e. - with 10 connections in the GOG Downloader I can max out at about 200-300 kbps).

Pretty disappointing... so I wanted to see if others are able to get good download speeds.
Lol, I forget what my internet is rated at but I don't use the gog downloader and average 1-2mb/s

Edit: On my wifi, I just tested at 6.5mb down and 13.5 up

Quick update. Now, the Downloader has moved onto the next file and is hovering around 40 kbps. This time, the number of connections doesn't seem to make a difference at all. 1 connection = 40 kbps. 10 connections = 40 kbps.

I also tried downloading directly from the browser w/o the Downloader and got similar speeds.
Used the downloader and it usually maxes out my 17mb/s connection
with the gogdownloader, it reads as: 3+ MB/s constantly, upwards of 4.5 MB/s down to 2.0 MB/s (when a new file gets finished and a new one starts is when it drops/speeds up)

Ah maybe it is a route issue, try a trace or whatever it is called (sorry I don't know how to do this so I can't give details).

I wish speeds in usa reflected how much $ it costs us. In global ranking for price:speed, we are what, in the middle of the low end right?

I don't understand this. I've done multiple speed tests and have downloaded large files from other servers and I'm getting great speeds from everywhere except gog.com which is making me feel like I'm on dialup
2MB/s per file through HTTP and 6MB/s when I last used the downloader but I found it unstable so I opted to use HTTP after that.
Anywhere from 1-2MBps from GOG downloader, double that without the downloader. I get 30Mbps from speedtest. You got to remember that GOG's servers are halfway around the world. There are a lot of hops involved in that transfer.

You do realize that kb is not the same as kB right?

kb = kilobit
kB = kilobyte
1 byte = 8 bits

I cannot make sense of the speeds in your post.

I have 10Mbps connection and my download speed usually maxes out at 1.3MB/s. With 30Mbps, your download speed should be around 4MB/s, or 4000kB/s.

200kB/s or 300kB/s is bad, but 200kbps or 300kbps is even worse. Either way, how you are getting such low speeds, I do not know.
Oh, wait a minute you are not even getting 1MBps that is rather low. Who is your service provider? And are you located in the sticks?

Also are u doing speedtest to local provider or to another site (local isp always come back fast...most times)
I get about 128KB usable download (what I when using the "GOG.com Downloader"

Due to my location it's either a Satellite or a dial-up connection & I like 128KB over 4KB
Mine is going to 830 ko/s top speed.. Neufbox modem, still no fiber in my small town.
> What's your average download speed?

Not fast enuff.
I can max my download speed through the downloader at 8.5-8.8MB/s. The Web Browser download uses about 75% of my connection speed. The CDN GOG uses seems to have good availability in my area.

I pay for 60mbps but I my connection is rated slightly above that.
