I found the survey stats quite interesting:

http://www.easydamus.com/hallofheroesstats.html

Got me wondering how many people would actually get evil as an alignment since you'd think (hope?) it'd be a small percentage of the population (or at least a small percentage of the population honest enough to admit it) but there are actually quite a few. A majority seems to be Neutral Good with True Neutral coming in second place.

Lawful Good: 166
Neutral Good: 356
Chaotic Good: 54
Lawful Neutral: 85
True Neutral: 224
Chaotic Neutral: 62
Lawful Evil: 2 (only 2 RIAA lawyers)
Neutral Evil: 20
Chaotic Evil: 31

I'm also surprised there aren't that many Chaotic Goods, relatively speaking.
Neutral good. I try to do the right thing, but sometimes you got to toe the line.

toxicTom: I really like the "classic" (A)D&D alignment system and I'm curious where my fellow GOGers would place themselves.

For the three people not knowing what I'm talking about: The alignment system in D&D puts characters and creatures (and societies/cultures) into categories in a two-axis-system.

The ethical axis goes from "Lawful" (respecting the rules of society) to "Chaotic" (living by one's own rules).
The moral axis goes from "Good" (i.e. altruism, compassion) to "Evil" (i.e. egoism, ruthlessness).

With both axes there is "Neutral" grounds in the middle. Combined they form a handy 3x3 grid.
Some examples:
An ideal judge should be "Lawful Neutral".
Robin Hood would be "Chaotic Good".
A RIAA lawyer is probably "Lawful Evil".
My cat is "Chaotic Neutral".
Gary Oldman is all of them. (example)

I would consider myself Chaotic (mostly) Good in everyday life - authority has to earn my respect first, before I can accept it. But I try to make life as good as possible for people around me.

At work however, I tend to be Lawful Neutral. As a (senior) software developer I'm pretty technology agnostic - I choose what gets the job done - be it "Good" Open Source or "Evil" Microsoft. But I insist that rules of code style, documentation and design patterns are followed.

How about you?
Well, since you asked.....

mondo84: I think I've done this before. Here's a link to a questionnaire.

https://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/20001222b

I remember I got Chaotic Neutral.
From this test I would be Neutral Good. But if I look at my desk... it's rather on the chaotic side ;-)

AlKim: Here's another questionnaire that gives you a race, a level and stats as well. Admittedly there are some weird and ambiguous questions/answers, but in the Nine Hells, this is all you get.
Neutral Good Elf Sorcerer (6th Level)

Ability Scores:
Strength- 9
Dexterity- 12
Constitution- 11
Intelligence- 16
Wisdom- 15
Charisma- 12

Not very outstanding...
Chaotic good for sure. I don't think laws define what is good, I think empathy does, for the most part.

I always like to play RPGs as chaotic good Dirty Harry types. Ain't got time for your bullshit politics and justifications, son!
I'm probably either Chaotic Good or Chaotic Neutral.
edit: did the D&D Online Alignment Test; "Based on your answers to the quiz, your character’s most likely alignment is Neutral."

Chaotic Good Human Bard/Wizard (2nd/2nd Level)

I'm starting to see a tendency here...
Lawful Neutral as much as possible.
So how many of you know your alignment langages...?

+1 for Chaotic Good

It's a question that governments should ask societies for a genuine democratic system. So if your region was predominantly Chaotic Good, that should be the Councillors alignment as well and things should be run accordingly......... now Chaotic Good isn't quite as appealing.
