I was browsing the Office Depot site for a new desk chair to replace one whose wheel had snapped, and in the pop-up ads that followed (every now and then one slips by the blocker) one advertised "shop for gaming chairs at 'this-fake-shop-contains-viruses-aplenty.cn". I've seen "gaming" chairs before, and they always looked to me like crap barbershop chairs with even more crap speakers powered by disposable batteries instead of an AC power supply, and the "transmitters" that are needed for the speakers to work in the first place are always "sold separately", usually for another $100 (I saw one merchant who wanted to charge ~$98 just for shipping. No thank you). Anyone know of a good reason why I should get one of these chairs instead of a traditional desk chair and keep using my wireless, rechargeable 5.1 headset?
There's a few floor-level chairs that look good for console gaming, but for PC gaming? Nah.
if built correctly gaming chairs can be comfortable (for console gaming), unfortunately most are worse on your neck than sitting on the floor.

Yeah, I'd need a "multipurpose" swivel chair. I attached a rough layout of my bedroom. As you can see, my PC is located directly across from the TV/PS3/Wii/etc. A swivel chair is almost a necessity.

My "gaming chain" is a nice leather Executive Chair. I love it. Was on clearance for $60 at Office Max. :)
Gentlemen... THIS is a gaming chair!
My gaming chair consists of a standard office desk chair for pc gaming but for console gaming I just lean against the couch or reclinable chair while sitting on the floor. More comfortable than sitting on the couch or chair for gaming although part of that may be due to the fact all my consoles use corded controllers.

Want nao!

At least you guys know what to get me for my birthday this year. Start saving, you have 'till December 10th!

EDIT - Actually, I'd even take the cheaper version.

That actually looks really uncomfortable. Look how much you would need to crane your neck to see the screen.

Yes, but that would require you to lower it. Any chair that requires work to operate is not truly a gaming chair. :P

Perhaps it's automatic when you sit down ;)

In that case, would you be willing to lend me $40,000? :D
